How much would this scenario play a part in your decision to have another?
Granted I am very far from making this decision as DS #2 is only a month old.....
but here is the scenario--
DS #1 was a preemie, spent a month in the NICU and needed surgery at 6months----now a very healthy happy toddler DS #2 was full term, but this was after 16 weeks of shots, 1 hospitalization and bedrest for a month along with meds
I know its a very personal choice, but I wanted to get others opinions..

THe bedrest thing would scare me... I would be nervous that it would be longer for the 3rd child...and with 2 other little ones, I imaigne that would be really hard on the entire family.

Re: How much would this scenario play a part in your decision to have another?
I had 6 weeks of bedrest with DS. 7 months of constant and vomited between 5-10 a day, head ache from week 25 until I delivered, I lost vision and had preeclampsia. I was still sick after delivering DS. The drs. thought I could have MS. In the end it was my gall bladder. I had it removed a year after having DS.
I was told not to have another child.
I had DD two years AFTER I had DS and had a completely different pregnancy. I was sick less than 10 times the entire pg. I felt fine for the entire PG.
In the end it is a completely personal decision. I know I am done because as I was having my repeat c/s the dr. found a staple inside of me. He said it could have hurt DD or me. I also apparently was within 24 hours of having eclampsia.

I don't think those specific scenarios would affect my decision because they were temporary

Re: How much would this scenario play a part in your decision to have another?
Well my past pregnancies are part of the reason I think I'm done. I don't want to risk something happening to me or having a bad pregnancy when I have two young children to care for. So for me past pregnancy/baby health are a big factor in considering to TTC for another baby.
I guess the question you need to answer for yourself - is what would happen if you have a very bad pregnancy again and are bed ridden for most of it - will you have someone to take care of your children? Do you worry if it will affect them? If you deliver early will you be okay with a child in the NICU with 2 other children at home?
Not an easy decision

Each PG is different. Every child is different. If your kids are healthy now, then bringing another child into the family won't affect their care, KWIM?
My PG and postpartum have been anything but ideal. But nobody will make the decision for us about having another child. It is our decision and will be left up to God.
