How much would you....

pay for this, if anything at all.....It is a hand knit snowman. Obviously this is the wrong season for it, but I wanted to make a bunch as gifts and others to sell for next year and wanted an opinion.

Added information:

I make them bigger and use many different colors for the scarfs and hats. My mom's has a beautiful blue/green mixed yarn for the scarf and hat. I also use a variety of buttons for the bodies.

They cost about 7 or 8 dollars to make and take me about 2 hours if I work straight through.

How big are the ones you intend to sell? Would you be selling individual snow people or as a set like the picture? Is $7-8 the cost for making one snowman or all of them?

I have 3 times the cost in my head when pricing handmade items but I have no idea where I heard that. Chat Icon

It is $7 to $8 for one of them and I am attaching a picture of my mom's! I can't get it to post right now.

Re: How much would you....

usually you double the cost of materials to price an item. But $7 per piece seems a lot, I dont think you can sell these for $15 unless they are like a foot tall.

Re: How much would you....

Thanks all.

They are about 7 to 8 to make because they take:

1. One ball of yarn http://www.acmoore.com/p-40468-jiffy-yarn-white.aspx 3.37

Plus my scrap yarn for scarf and hat

2. Fiberfill http://www.acmoore.com/p-70766-premium-polyester-fiberfill-16-ounce-bag-fobmi.aspx

They can take almost one full bag depending on the size

2.74

3. Plus buttons and other small notions

I am trying again to attach the picture.
