How Much Would You Pay?
I have a series of smallish projects I'm bringing a carpenter/electrician/plumber type guy in to do.
There's the list:
Build a pantry closet (existing space, no need to knock down walls and run electric)
Replace closet doors in bedroom and laundry room.
Replace high hats in bathroom (3)
Paint and replace moulding in bathroom. Replace vanity in both bathrooms.
Paint: hallway, bedroom, both bathrooms (see above), including dining room and kitchen.
What do you think I could expect for these things? I probably won't do it all at once. DH and I are DIY challenged. We could do some of this stuff ourselves but we are rarely home to devote time to this.

Re: How Much Would You Pay?
well my hubby is a carpenter and would probably charge around $300-$700 depending on the size of the rooms with painting.

Re: How Much Would You Pay?
I'd like to say about $5,000, but we paid $1,500 just to have our kitchen subfloor replaced. Carpenters are expensive....

Re: How Much Would You Pay?
My inital guess would be between 3-4K with all the painting.
I'm not sure this guy would paint though, I may just have him do the carpentry and electric work.
He's a friend of DH's friend-very close friend, so I'm going to give him a call to have him come over.
I would buy the paint and supplies and new vanities.

Re: How Much Would You Pay?
to sheetrock a closest, hang a door, replace highhats and molding and to paint rooms would not cost thousands. I know my husband and several other guys from local 608 in NYC charge much less.

I hope you're right. I'll let you know what happens. I do know that painters charge a lot of money. It's the plumbing party that I think could add up if I had to bring in a plumber. But who knows. I'm really clueless. Could you ask your DH if he wants to quote me on this stuff?
FM me.

Re: How Much Would You Pay?
but your original post says nothing about plumbing? As long as you are putting in a new vanity that is around the same size as the old one, there is not much plumbing at all

Re: How Much Would You Pay?
the vanities will be bigger, about twice the size so I think I may have a bigger job than I think. I also think that I have good ideas and intentions but will run into other problems as we go so I'm trying to be realistic. Believe me I would love to spend a few hundred to get all this done and not thousands so if you can help I would be so gratetful.
