How often do you bring your dog to work?

I work out east so it actually started when i needed them to get shots I would bring them to work, go over at lunch to Kent animal shelter and bring them back.

But Foxy (in my avatar pic) loves it here and is so good, and everyone loves her here that I bring her at least once a month. My boss loves her but one of my co-workers says its not appropriate.

What are your thoughts?

My initial reaction is that an office is not an appropriate place for you to bring your dog.

But I guess I'm picturing a traditional, formal office.

I suppose if you have a very casual office it could work but in my mind it would have to be a VERY casual, small office.

I would think having a dog in the office would be distracting. I mean, it would be fun, but certainly I know I wouldn't get much work done b/c I'd be playing with the pooch.

Maybe that's why your co-worker doesn't like having her around?

Generally, I'm not a fan of bringing my dog to places that traditionally dogs or pets aren't commonly found (ie. stores, restaurants, etc.) but if it works for you and your boss, more power to ya.

I'm guessing, however, if your co-worker complained, your boss would have to make you leave scruffy home.

Never.

And I couldnt even if I wanted too. FDA policy states animals are not allowed in a building that manufactors or houses nutritional products. Since we are a nutrional company, no pets allowed in the building

I guess it depends. Generally, I would say no, its not appropriate. However, its a small office and everyone who works in that office is asked if it is ok and is fine with it, then I don't see a problem with it.
I know my dad works in a small office and someone frequently brings their dog. He loves it.

Everyday.

BUT that is because my office is run by myself and my father. (my mom also helps out sometimes). Its a family business....no other actual employees but him and I, so the family dog comes with us to work.


However if I worked in a traditional office environment--I would not bring my dog with me...I don't think its appropriate at all among other co-workers and such.

we bring the one (trinity, my avatar pic) to work everyday and the other two hang at home but we own our own business

No I would never bring my dog to work with me because it would be a distraction to everyone around me.
