as I read emails I either delete them or put them in a folder to keep...
at work that is...we have a limit on the number of emails in our acct so it forces us to keep our inbox under control

Work email, rarely. I always need to reference older emails so its safest to hold on to them.
But my personal account I clean out everyday!

i try to delete whatever i can and archive when i need something. we have a pretty strict limit at work, so that keeps me under control. home email is a different story.

Whenever I get a message from the IT server saying I'm close to my limit. 
Right now I'm sitting at about 1000 emails in my Inbox and about 650 in my Sent. I need to delete some.
Home email is all cleaned out and up to date.

Work: never. I have email folders that aren't on the mail server, so I have several gigabytes of old emails.
Home: Every few days. I try and give DW a few days to see if anything that came in was something she wanted to look at.

Work: I don't. A major part of my job is to keep records and I never know when I'll need one little piece of information from 4 years ago. I archive them but never delete.
Personal: I only delete spam. Everything else goes into that person's folder. I don't get enough emails to even get near my limit so I see no real need to delete them.
