We started when DS showed some interest, a little past his 2nd birthday. He would sit on the potty and occasioally pee. He did that for a few months and then he went on a boycott and had no interest. We started up again a few months before his 3rd birthday. And within a month he was fully trained. He had a couple of accidents at first, usually #2, but within a couple of weeks he was good to go. I would have loved him to be trained earlier, but you can't force it. Like everyone says, they will let you know when they are ready.

My Mom used the guideline that when we started waking up from our naps dry she started putting us on the potty. I am going to try the same method. DS is 18 months and does not wake up from his naps dry yet.

We just started last month (DS is 26 mos)

I put him on the potty every morning when he wakes up and every night before his bath.

Then throughout the day, I would say 30-50% of the time, he will tell me that he needs to make poopie and goes on the potty.

I thought my DS would start potty training between 2-3. But last week DS asked to go on his potty and he went peepee a couple of times and #2 once (he has been asking for awhile and we have been putting him on the potty but nothing was happening) ~ so we started last week. My baby is turning into a big boy ~ So sad but so happy at the same time.... My DS will be turning 2 on Aug 4th.

DS is 8mo. my husband swears ds will be potty trained by 9months...

DS trained at 37 months on the nose (3yrs, 1 month)

We started putting her on the potty at 12 months. Sounds crazy, I know, but she would tell us when she went in her diaper (her verbal skills were amazing for a 12 month old), but we didn't really train her till 20 months and she trained quickly.

Kaydyn just started showing interest in going on the potty. She'll ask a couple of times a day to go sit on it, but has yet to go while on it.

She is 2.5.

1st DD - potty trained at 20 months
2nd DD - potty trained at 24 months.

I'm actually shocked at alot of these answers as I just asked this question not too long ago and most people responded with 3 as the answer.

I started a few weeks ago (Jack will be 3 this week)

He didn't have many accidents but he was fighting me every time I put him on the toilet (all out kicking, hitting, screaming) so after two weeks of getting my asss kicked I threw in the towel. He was not ready yet (and to be honest, neither was I!)

I will try again in August (He will be 3 years and 1 month.) If it doesn't happen then I will try in a few more months.

I am just happy to have my happy little boy back now. Training him was absolute torture.

We have introduced the potty to jacen. He loves to sit on it. He always knows that he gets a piece of candy if he goes.

But nothing yet. Not pushing it. But if it happens, it happens.

We started at 23 months.

About 18 months....she was chucking her diaper off of her at every chance and I knew she hated the feeling. I would say almost 2.5 she was pretty much potty-trained during the day. We are still dealing with pull-ups at night and she is 3.

Just as an aside, Christopher never woke up from naps dry, I don't know that I would necessarily use that as a guideline

DD showed interest in potty training at 18 mos and went poop on the potty the first time then. For awhile she loved to sit on the potty so we would "catch" a lot of pee and she would tell us about poop sometimes. I really didn't feel the need to push it so I let her determine the pace. Now, at 27 months, she is NOT interested at all. She screams NO when I ask her about it. She told me she likes it when I change her. She always waits to poop until we are home so I know she could do it but psychologically she isn't ready so I"m going to wait. I don't think I will push it until she is closer to 3.

DS is 21 months and within the last few months he has asked to go to the potty a bunch. We take him but he never goes. However, within the last couple weeks, he tells me "peepee" and "poop" when he has already gone! I am going to try to train in Aug when I am off from work for 2 weeks right before his 2nd b/day!

started at 22 months, she was 100% potty trained by 26 months. (it took a week or two after we finally switched her to big girl underware for her to be totally trained)

She has told me she wants to go I have put her on the potty and she's went #1 and #2 this started at about 22 months. She used the bathroom today in daycare she willbe 2 july 16th

Gave it a try at 2.5 -didn't work out but put him in pullups instead of back into diapers.

A few months later daycared called me because he was showing interest (good old peer pressure) and since then he has being improving more and more.

Right now he has more dry overnights and fewer accidents during the day. He tells me when he has to pee but poop is still a problem. He's definitely not trained...still training at 3.

DD started showing interest around 18mths, so we put her little potty in the bathroom and she would go and sit on it.
She peed on it just once...but this week she started telling me that she has pooped or peed in her diaper...so we are going to attempt to start PTing next week

She is 22 mths next week

We tried at a little over 2 1/2 and he was def not ready!! It was a mess for me and him....way too stressful.

Started again last week.....he was 3 the end of March. He was ready this time and picked it up in 1 day. The first day he had about 5 accidents by 10am...and then it clicked. he has been great since. No accidents (well one, he went to see toy story with my bro and his girlfriend and he peed at the end of the movie -- right on the floor i think he was too into the movie and they didn't ask him at all if he had to go)

So one week into it and he has only had 1 accident. I put pull ups on at night and naptime and he wakes up dry all the time.

I have NO idea. DS is 21, almost 22 months and doesn't even understand what the potty is for yet. He can tell me "butt" when he has a dirty diaper but more often than not he won't tell me if he needs to be changed. I'm in no rush, i figure I'll just train DS and DD at the same time

started EC at 5 months and she was almost fully potty trained by 18 months (only wore diapers at night/naps and when she had to poop) and she was 100% potty trained at 2.5 .
