DS is 6 months and for a couple weeks, he has been able to sit up himself, but for VERY short bursts of time. He topples over quickly.

It seems he lasts longer each week though.

She was 5 1/2 months when she could sit up completely on her own. As for getting to sitting on her own, she is working on it every day, she pulls herself up to sitting using her toys, but is sooo close to just sitting up on her own, she is almost 6 1/2 months.

DD is 5.5 months and can sit up on her own for very brief periods of time, when I let my hands go. It gets longer and longer every few days...

10 months. He had not figure it out until then.

Do you mean just sitting up or getting to the sitting up position? I don't recall for DS, but DD was about 6 months when she sat up alone for extended periods of time, around 7.5 months when she pulled herself up to a sitting position.

DD started at 4 months (with hands and then by 4 1/2 starting without)- but she would still topple when excited for about 2 months - she was sitting up very well without hands etc by her 5 month bday.

Both my girls could tripod sit (using hands for support without falling over) by 3 1/2 months old.

My first DD could sit with no support 6 days before she turned 5 months old. She could get into the sitting postion on her own by 6 1/2 months.

My second DD could sit up by 5 months old. She is 8 months old and hasn't sat up on her own yet.

She has been sitting on her own since she was almost 7 months. She topples over from time to time. She can't yet bring herself to a sitting up position from a lying down position though.

DD cannot get herself into the sitting position, but on May 22 DH put her on the floor in the sitting position and she didn't topple over . . . and hasn't since unless she is reaching for something that is waaaay out of her reach. She was 6 months on June 4.

DS was sitting up pretty well at 6 months. If he is on a slight incline (like laying on boppy) he can sit up on his own, but can't yet do it from laying flat. He is 8 months now.

DD tripod sat at just over 4 months...shes now just over 5 months and can sit and play with her toys hands going everywhere (we use the bobby pillow behind her for the toppling over!) she sits for quite awhile...if she falls back into the pillow she can usually get herself sitting back up...without the pillow she cannot get herself sitting yet but its not because shes not trying wow is she trying!

Sitting up without support for long periods-around 7 months. Getting into the sitting position? Just for the first time a week ago (9.5 months)

sat up all the way at 8 months... by himself

he would sit upright if I put him in that position at 6 mos...but i'd have to be there incase he toppled over

Sat up unsupported at 6 months

Went from lying down to pulling/pushing herself into the sitting position - 10 months

She could sit without tipping over at about 7.5-8 months and she started going from laying down to sitting at 9 months.
