How to address sympathy card
Do you include spouse and children in card to someone you grew up with as neighbors who lost a parent who was important to you? Haven't seen them in years, but were special part of my growing up.

I would only address the person you grew up with. My DH and I both lost parents this year and the cards from old friends (basically the exact situation you describe) were addressed only to me or to him.
The nicest cards we received were the ones from our friends who shared specific memories of our parents. We threw away the generic ones after we sent thank yous but we kept the more personal ones. So, definitely send the card. The recipient will appreciate it more than you realize.

I would address it to your friend specifically. This way you can be more personable with a memory or two. Then include in the writing somewhere that you are thinking about her and her family.
