How to clean an iron?
I have some black residue on my iron, and I need to get it off, quick. Any suggestions?

Re: How to clean an iron?
Try cleaning it with nail polish remover and then pressing an old towel to transfer the black. It's probably a fabric that melted on there.
ETA: Or with the nail polish remover, you can scrub with steel wool. OR they do sell iron cleaner in the supermarket (usually located by spray starch)

Re: How to clean an iron?
Turn it on and press some wax paper with it being hot. It will clean it and the wax from the paper will help it glide better over the fabrics.

Re: How to clean an iron?
put some white vinegar in teh iron and iron onto a piece of toss away fabric - it will clean the adhered stuff off and any mineral deposits in the iron also.
