How to count days

What is the "correct" way to count days in your LP? Do u count the day you ovulated as 1 or the next day? And do you count the day AF arrives as the last day of your LP or the day before? Am I making sense? I just want to be sure I'm doing it correctly.

For example, if I O on CD 12 and AF arrives on CD 25, what would my LP be?

It's my understanding that you count from the next day, so with your example, you'd have a 12 day LP (with CD25 really being CD1).

Re: How to count days

Your LP would be 12 days. You count the day after O as the first day of your LP. And then the first day of AF is actually the first day of the new cycle, so the day before AF is the last day of your LP.

Christina,

Just wondering, because I don't know how to determine the LP myself: Based on how you explained it, wouldn't the LP be 11 days? The day after O would be CD13 and if AF comes on CD25 (which is then day one, as you said) so the last day of your LP is CD24.
Just trying to understand. Hope I'm not coming across as a PITA.

Thanks!

Not a PITA at all! The LP would be 12 days. The day after O, CD13 would be day 1, CD14 day 2, CD15 day 3 and so on and so on. CD24 would be day 12. The next day AF shows which is CD1 of the new cycle. Make sense?

Yes, that makes total sense. I was subtracting CD24 minus CD13 = 11 Duh! Chat Icon Sometimes I amaze myself with how dumb I am Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: How to count days

Thanks for all of your responses. I figured I may have been counting an extra day in there and I was right. Now I have to go back and check the past few months to see what my LP really was Chat Icon
