How to deal with loser neighbor?
Our neighbor is a real piece of work. After the hurricane she had her boyfriend cut down the trees in her yard. The guy is an idiot and cut this huge tree right at the bottom( instead of sections) and it came crashing through 4 sections of our fence into our yard. We just paid for and replaced the fence the year before. She said she'd fix it and never did, we have a pool so felt obligated to fix it. Afterwards she asked how much it cost and again nothing! I'm beyond annoyed and don't know what if anything can be done to get money from her. Any ideas?

I haven't had to deal with home owners insurance but it might not hurt to try to show them the receipt and tell them what happened? You could go to small claims court, but maybe try to give her a copy of the receipt and tell her this is what she owes. If you still hear nothing then court

Re: How to deal with loser neighbor?
I'd ask my homeowner's to deal with her homeowner's insurance. If it came down during the storm, it's on your dime. If someone cuts it down & it hits your fence, it's their issue.
You are obligated to have this fixed with a pool.

Re: How to deal with loser neighbor?
I wonder if she would even give us that info. She is definitely avoiding us! At the time our own tree fell and crushed our shed so she implied we should just include the fence in the claim.....our insurance barely covered the shed and tree removal, we told her that! After speaking to other neighbors, we come to find she isn't well liked and this is typical for her. I'm going to tell my DH to ask her about her insurance.

Exactly and after hearing about that recent tragedy with those two little ones drowning we weren't taking any chances, once the weather got nice we fixed it!

Do you need that info directly from her? I'm wondering if your insurance company can find out that info or contact her instead of you dealing with her.
Not sure how it works. I wish we could tag people. We have a few State Farm people on this site.

Re: How to deal with loser neighbor?
You could probably call your homeowners agent to ask who'd be responsible...
I know if a neighbors tree falls on your house - then your homeowners not your neighbors picks up the damage to the house...
I'd kinda think same would apply to fence, but then again, this guy was cutting down his tree, not getting knocked down in the storm, I really dunno.

Re: How to deal with loser neighbor?
Call your HOI and see if they can deal with it, similar to a car accident.
I can imagine that the more she blows you guys off, the hotter the situation can get.
She may have to deal with them if they call.
