how to decide on an area rug (for livingroom)
We ordered furniture for our living room, now for a rug.....
Are there rules to go by on how your furniture should lay on the rug?
Like, should just the front legs of the couch/chairs be on the rug or the whole piece, etc?
What should I look for in a good quality rug?

either just the front legs of the couch or none of the legs. NEVER all legs of the couch unless of course the rug is a wall-to-wall.
do you have pics of your furnished space?
eta: i have area rugs from ethan allen, pottery barn, rugsusa and home decorators. the best quality are the ones from ethan allen ($$$) and the worst is by far from PB (sheds horribly). very impressed with not only the quality but the price of the rugsusa and home decorators area rugs.

the furniture does not come until wed but this is the space.
We ordered a couch, love seat, chair ottomon/coffee table, 1 end table, sofa table.

We have the front legs of the couch on, and that coffee table. The chairs are totally off ours.
We bought it at home depot. The colors fit perfectly.

I have 3 area rugs....all from walmart.com
They are very reasonably priced....
The one...i have had for over 3 years...
The other two are new....we love them!

We got our area rug at Home Depot, the one before that we had gotten at Lowes. They had a pretty nice selection, reasonably priced too!
The front legs of the chaise are on it and the coffee table is also. There's about 8 inches between the rug and the bottom of our couch.

The front legs of my couch are on my area rug. Home Depot and Lowes have nice selections. Can I ask you the color of that room?? I love it!!

Wait until you get the furniture and put it in it's place, than measure the area you think you would like covered. In my LR the front of the couch is on the rug.
