How to Help A Friend With An Attitude Problem
I have a friend who is really funny, smart and witty but she has trouble making friends 'cus she has a HUGE attitude problem - she's very pessimistic to a point where she has also mentioned suicide a few times.
When she comes out with me to a social event that I plan, she also tends to be mopey and negative if it's not something she likes to do.
She has very few friends as a result, but she doesn't realize her attitude is what's driving people away.
What can one do to help someone like this? I feel so bad for her!

If you are close with her, I would talk about it with her - even say - I enjoy being with you, but its difficult for me to keep upbeat and enjoy myself because... and state some of the behaviors she exhibits.... Say you want to help her and talk with her about what she can do instead if she does feel mopey. Maybe she needs to talk to someone?

I think she needs to talk to someone too... I've talked to her and even suggested she should go into counseling. She doesn't think it will help since she hasn't had a good childhood experiences with psychiatrists in the past...
I wish I could help, esp. since she has exhibited suicidal tendencies.
