How to help dog go potty during hurricane who is not wee-wee pad trained?

Hi- my little cutie pie will only poop on a walk (i.e. not even in our yard) and will only pee outside (yard or walk). Which, 99.9% of the time is a very good thing! But what do we do with him during the worst parts of the storm??

We adopted him as an adult and he was never trained for wee-wee pad.

He hates being out in the rain as it is....& gets scared even indoors when he can hear/sense a storm.

And of course, it won't be safe to take him out during the storm. Even if we could manage to hold an umbrella up right outside the door, he'd be too nervous to go.

So any ideas? Should we try to get him to go potty on a wee-wee pad during the worst part of the storm? Or will this screw him up for pottying in the future?

He's such a trooper and I'm afraid will hold it so long that he might hurt himself.

What are you doing about your doggy's "business" during the storm?

And if we do try to use a wee-wee pad, how do I convey to him that it's ok to go there specifically? I was thinking of having DH pee on it first to give Rupert the idea...Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

But joking aside, I'm really concerned about this! Chat Icon

My dogs only go outside. They will be afraid to go out. We will try to quickly send them out as they go in our yard. If they refuse to go, there is nothing I can do. Eventually they would have an accident in the house i guess, however, my dogs would rather holdit forever than go in the house. They are really good like that. Hope they will just go quickly outside when it seems sort of calmer and not burst inside.Chat Icon

I'm doing a wee wee pad for my puppy, which I'm upset bc she's training so well and for my adult dog I'm going to leave out a wee wee pad. He will eventually go on it worse case scenario.
