How to keep kitty off counters?
We have a naughty kitty!!
He knows not to go onto counters or the table and never does so when we are home/awake. We used to spray him with water and/or yell at him so he is trained that he is not allowed.
However, he is so sneaky, at night he is on the table - how do I Know? He grabs the napkins and there is a trail of them leading in my bedroom! Also he was on the counter today, he knocked off a cup of water and we saw it when we came home.
How do we get him to stop doing this?

I saw somewhere that if you put masking tape with the sticky side up their paws stick to it and it drives them nuts. Maybe put that on the edge of the counters. I kind of gave up on trying to get my cat to not do things because I see him sneak and do it when he thinks I am not looking!

Re: How to keep kitty off counters?
we had the same problem... they KNOW they are not supposed to be up there... but as soon as we are sleeping... there they go!!!
we put a sheet of aluminum foil down across the counters... did that every night for maybe a week or two.... seems to have worked... or they just turned into some type of a spy and learned not to disturb things up there....
for my previous cats, i actually set up boobie traps... i tied a piece of fishing line from two cans, one filled half way with, i think i used pennies or whole coffee beans, and stretched the line across the counter... next time he jumped up... CRASH!!! scared the bejesus outa him (and me at 4am) but he didnt go up there after that!

The aluminum definitely helped. You just need to make sure you keep it there for a few weeks, or replace it each night. Your cats are "counter-surfing" lol
