how to shrink jeans?... i sound like the cheerios commercial
i'm going away, this weekend. during that time, i'll be going to a baseball game, a bbq/b-day party, and meeting the parents...
i am BROKE, and i have to use clothes i already own. i'd love to wear my dark jeans with a peasant top to the bbq. here is the problem, the jeans are starting to fit a little big. how can i shrink them a bit so they can be tight for the bbq?
mind you, i hadn't worn jeans in FOREVER because i was so big. now that i can wear them... they're too big lol
would washing them in hot water help?

OK, first off this is an AWESOME problem to have!!!
As for encouraging "shrinkage"...
Wash in the hottest water you can and dry it on the hottest setting on the dryer.
Just note, if they are pre-shrunk they might not shrink that much more.

hot water is not really good for jeans, especially dark jeans, I would just wash them in warm /cold water and then just put them in the dryer on high heat for 60 min or so.

I would bring them to the tailor and them taken in or if you know someone who can do it. I can't imagine a tailor being more than $20 and they will fit perfect.

I always wash my jeans in hot water and throw in the dryer to shrink them down. They stretch out pretty fast again but it's good for a wearing or 2!
