how to tell if its gas and if so what to do?
Well, my mother was watching DS today and when I coem home informs me that she thinks he has gas as his little legs keep curling up and he is fussing a bit. I don't know how to tell if thats gas or not and quite frankly my mother hasnt taken care of a baby in 40 years!! So now I'm completely stressed out, as I have seen hime do this quite a few times over the last week or so and jsut thoguht it was how he was stretching. he has been more fussy but I don't know. I go to the pediatrician on Monday but don't want to wait if it is. I did get mylicon drops at my shower and jsut read the package however I am EXTREMELY hesitant to give him anything, expecially when I'm not sure if it even is gas and even if it is not sure I want to medicate him with anythig at such a young age...he's only four weeks old!! UGHHH, don't know what to do and of course I can't get in touch with DH!! Think I am call ing the pediatrician office for the umpteenh time...they must love first time moms!!

does he go poops regularly? those mylicon drops never did anything for my kids. they were a waste.
try rubbing his lower back and/or his tummy and grab his legs and do the bicycle motions with his legs.

The dr told us if you feel that dc's stomach feels tight it is gas. Mylicon eliminated fussiness for us.

DD has alot of gas right now. It's true that if they are curling their legs up, its probably gas. Our ped told us to try to keep her moving somewhat during the day and to do the bicycle motion with her legs (both help get the gas moving). We give her the mylicon drops...it helps lessen the fussiness (although not get rid of it completely).
