I have taught summer school in two different districts. The first was the school I did my student teaching in, and the second was the school I got a permanent job in.
Thankfully, I teach with the guy who does the hiring, so when I had to take last summer off because I had a baby, he held my position for this year!

I heard about it from the district that I was teaching in and I have been doing it ever since then (5 years). But BOCES is really the one who pays you.

Last year I taught summer school in the district I taught in.

This year I am teaching a gifted and talented program at Long Island COnservatory. I saw the ad, applied, interviewed, and was offered a position. I think you have to start looking pretty early. I know a lot of people have "retention rights" in districts and basically get the job each year. It is rough to find something close to home and worth it, but it is quick and easy money.

Mine is in my district and how because I have done it before and most people don't want it.
