How would you feel---UPDATED
if you found out by accident that one of your coworkers that does way less work than you do makes $2.00 an hour more than you. Lets just say I am pretty much a manager for my office I do billing assist my manager and she makes more money than me.
I am really ******, I wish I didnt see how much she made.
What would you do and how would you feel?
UPDATED- YES its $2.00 an hour more than me. She has been with the company for 2 weeks more than me. I just dont think its fair and I cant ask my boss for a raise b/c she is the biggest b**** and would tell me to go take a walk. My DH says I have to wait til my review which isnt for another 6 months to actually say something. She is not a manager and neither am I but I have a higher postition than her and I kinda work over her. I was just so upset earlier and I wanted to get it out and DH thought I was over reacting b/c there is nothing I could do about it but I just feel so hurt YES I shouldnt of found out how much she makes but I did.

Re: How would you feel
For TWO dollars? I wouldn't sweat it. Make her buy you one cup of coffee a week. That'll make you even. lol

Re: How would you feel
That's a tough call because in some places salaries are confidential, so it may be that you shouldn't know whatyour co-workers are making. Sometimes wages do get out of wack if you have been there for a long time and she is relatively new, your pay increases may not match what you would be making if you were to be hired on today.
I would not go to your boss and say Sally makes more than me, I need a raise.
If you feel you are underpaid, I would research what people in your position in your area are making and approach your boss about a pay raise to match the going rate for your job title.

im pretty sure she means $2 an hour... which, in the long run, adds up. How long have each of you been there? I dont think you can say anything about the specific salaries, but if you feel youre underpaid, I would go to upper management and discuss why you feel youre worth a certain amount

Has she worked there longer?
But in general, I would just mind my own business with regards to people's salaries.

Re: How would you feel
I assume you mean $2/hour more than you make. To some it might not seem like a big deal, but I know it can add up. If you work a 35 hour week, over the course of a year, s/he is making almost $4,000 more than you. If you work a 40 hour week, it's more than $4,000. I'm not sure by your post, though - are you her manager, or is she yours? If she's your manager, I'd probably let it go.

Ask for a raise, but leave her salary out of it.

I thought she meant two dollars total! lol
if that's the case, then I'd ask for a raise.

Re: How would you feel---UPDATED
Does she have more experience than you? I don't think you can say anything, salary is based on a variety of things. Maybe she just negotiated for more when she started. At my job, you are not supposed to discuss salary with other employees and I think that is true of most places.

i agree with this.
at my old job, i found out that a girl hired MONTHS after me, was making $10k more annually. I was in charge of an entire dept, while she was an admin. it wasn't until i found out she was ******* the boss, that the salary difference made sense.
