How would you handle a 7 month old......
having temper tantrums? I find it quite young for him to be having these. He used to be so good and he still is but I just don't know why he is having these? We tell him no when he does sometimes I even try to ignore it. I know he doesnt understand what no means but I am trying to nip this in the butt before it gets bad. Any other suggestions? What causes a 7 month old to have these?

That's a tough one b/c he still is very young. Are you sure they are temper tantrums? Kids at that age dont understand no and he is still too young to let him cry it out. Maybe you should speak to your dr. about it and see what he suggests.

I am postive thats what they are. I am thinking of calling the doctor. It’s not like he is totally flipping out. For example lately he wants to chew on his bottle and the formula is getting everywhere so I take it away and he screams and sometimes arches his back. It only lasts for a couple of seconds though.
No one else experienced these this young? Should I be concerned?

He might be teething and chewing on the nipple maye be soothing to him. How about trying a pacifier to chew on??
I thought I read they truly dont understand "no" till later on like 9 months.

That doesn't sound like a temper tantrum, that sounds like being really mad that you took something away. Can you offer him something else to chew on instead?

Re: How would you handle a 7 month old......
He definitly is teething. He just doesn’t do it for the bottle. For instance we were out to dinner last night and I was feeding him little pieces of cheese from my salad and I guess I wasn’t doing it quick enough cause he was bugging out lol. And if he doesn’t want to go In the car seat he will scream and arch his back. I am wondering if it all has to do with the teeth. Maybe it is making him so frustrated.

Believe it or not, Paige gets very mad at me when i take the bottle away from her. Yesterday, my DH took the bottle out of her mouth to wipe her face and she screamed - so much so that i could hear it outside. She also gets p$ssed when you try to burp her. She will cry most of the time. My mom swears it a temper. And she is only 3 months 1 week old.

James acted up when he was teething...there really was no cure, just temporary fixes.
sorry I'm not really any help...but they do get through it rather quickly

DS started doing that at about the same time as your DS. Try converting to a sippy cup... That stopped him from chewing the nipple and spitting out the milk.

As far as getting frustrated over not being fed quick enough or not wanting to be restrained, it's annoying but it sounds fairly normal to me. When Ellie starting standing up she absolutely refused to sit and be restrained whether it was high chair, car seat you name it and she would arch her back, lock her legs, and scream bloody murder. It has subsided now. she never threw a fit about not eating fasting enough but I've seen it with her friends her age. So it sounds pretty normal to me. She did the thing about wanting to chew on the nipple and we just took it away when she was done. That's a teething thing.

Re: How would you handle a 7 month old......
Steven has temper tantrums. They are undoubtedly temper tantrums. I just tell him to stop in a very stern voice and that works.
For example one time I was putting his jacket on and he didn't want me to, I guess. He started throwing everything around him. I would pick it up and give it back to him. Then threw it again. He was grunting while he was doing it and had a sour face on. I picked him up and he arched his back and pushed his body away from me while going "ggggrrrrrrrrrrr" and he had such a mad face on. I said very sternly (not loudly) "stop it now, that's not nice." And I guess I scared him because he stopped and was afraid to move for like 15 minutes! Even my dad was like "what the heck happened to him?" I said "oh, he just got yelled at." lol.
He tried it one more time a few weeks later and I did the same thing. Now, he hasnt' done it for a while. they may not understand the word NO, but they definately can read your facial expressions and body language and tone of voice. Try just telling him NO very sternly.

I introduced the sippy cup about a month ago. He took a few sips but now he wants nothing to do with it. He puts it in his mouth and either bites it or won’t close his mouth lol. My sister said it’s from teething. I have tried so many cups.

ohhh the grunting he has started doing that recently too.
I guess I will just continue to tell him NO. It does seem to make a difference when I tell him this.

I'm having the same problems. The arching of the back is a killer! I am so afraid that if I don't handle it right now, that I am going to have bigger problems down the line.
