How would you pronounce this name and do you think it's for a girl/boy?
I think I asked the same pronunciation question when picking DS' name. How would you say Callan and do you think it's a girl or boy's name?

I would pronounce it Cal-in. And I think it could go either way. My DD's name is Kaydyn and technically it's a boy's name but I LOVED the name and we changed it to more of a girly spelling.

Callan is a Gaelic girl's name, though boys do carry the name as well. (Kind of like my DD's name Reilly.) It is pronounced KAL-an. HTH

Thank you thank you! This is how I know it (the Gaelic form as a girl's name) but I'm worried everyone else won't.  By the poll it seems like most people think boy. Oy.

Also, are Cal-in and Kal-an the same to you? I wonder if we are saying it the same way?

I'd pronounce it: K-Allan (as in Allan with a K in front).
I would not have known female or male.
Looks a little like Colleen.

Cal-in (or Kal-in); either way, hard C or K so the first letter sounds like c in cat or k in kelly.
I grew up with a girl named Callan. Have never known a boy/man to have that name.

I pronounced Cal-lin and said girl, because my friend's daughter is named Callan - I think it's an old Irish name.

i would say Cal-lin
but as a teacher ive learned not to expect boy or girl it can be either and that i am probably even saying the name wrong, lol
if i had to choose though i would think boy
