Not sure what it is but if its a mess that a child made in school I would have a conversation with that particular student. Im terms of reacting, I would not flip out or cause a huge problem. But, I'm a special education teacher in a NYC public school and handle severe behavioral problems each day - so something like the above is very minor. However, I am guessing its crayon or some other mess a child made. Could be wrong, if so, I stand corrected.

Yup. It's crayon. He took his foot and rolled it over the floor. Did I flip? No. Was I ******? Hell yeah. This particular kid just doesn't care about getting in trouble. His sister would have bawled her eyes out if I had to talk to her mom. I talk to his mom every day and he is completely unfazed!

Re: How would you react seeing this???

I would have him first clean it up. Its his mess - Its his to clean. Then ...figure out why he is doing it. . . .Is he bored - give him some more challenging work, is the work too difficult - modify the curriculum - does he need to move around - give him some errands to do .. . etc. I agree with the above poster that that is a minor issue....but you need to find out why hes acting out.

Re: How would you react seeing this???

I've had students do that before. I calmly tell them to take a wipe and clean it up..and they do. I don't flip out but they have to know it's not right to color on furniture/floors etc. I ask them how they would feel if someone came to their house and drew on their furniture? of course they tell me they would not like that.
