Howard Stern Sidekick Robin Quivers Reveals Cancer Battle
Robin Quivers delivered some shocking news on Howard Stern’s Sirius XM show Monday morning by revealing her battle with cancer.
Howard Stern Sidekick Robin Quivers Reveals Cancer Battle Getty Images The radio personality explained that she took time off from the show to undergo chemotherapy. Doctors now say that she is cancer-free.
Quivers, who had a tumor removed from her bladder in 2012, told listeners that her most recent health scare was in her uterus.
Stern became emotional, saying he still gets the chills when listening to her story, adding, "I gotta be honest, I thought she was a goner."
Quivers and Stern have worked together for more than 30 years. Once, while discussing the tumor in her bladder, he told her, "I'm not doing the show without you... I'm quitting if you're not doing the show."

That woman, man. She's had such tough breaks in life but is so strong and intelligent and successful.
And here she is so health conscious and everything - wow
They seem to have such a bond - her and Howard
So sad

I thought it was pretty well-known she had cancer. She's had tumors removed recently and hasn't been working in-studio for a year! Or maybe I just assumed correctly?
But glad she is cancer-free! I'll be sad when they retire

though many had assumed it was cancer, she had never publicly confirmed it until today

Howard Stern Sidekick Robin Quivers Reveals Cancer Battle
I was really put off by the whole announcement. It gave me a bad feeling.
I felt like she downplayed the whole thing. "I felt better on chemo and radiation then I've ever felt without it." "I walked XX miles a day when I was on chemo. I went out for dinner every night. I went to shows. I never got sick. The only bad thing was I lost my hair."
If it really was so spectacular, then why couldn't she come to work every day? I mean, it's only what 4 hours twice a week?
Oh, and you can't forget "You're stupid if you dont goto Sloan Kettering Hospital." Sure - it must be easy to goto MSK and have a team of 10+ doctors and helpers when you're a multimillionaire. What about the rest of us? Guess we're just stupid.
As someone who was left behind because we couldn't afford to goto MSK, when that someone had a horrible life on chemo, I resent it.
Stop minimizing it for all the other people that don't have it as easy as you do/did.
And oh yeah, buy my book.

Clearly your put off because of a personal experience with sloan ketterin.
And him saying that is, sorry to say, true. They are THE hospital for cancer care. I know so many people wh Ith insurance that end up at rinky dinky hospitals with drs without experience. All he said was people just believe the first thing any dr tells them and they dont get a 2nd opinion... if your gonna have an opinion on something that is said then make sure to include everything that was said and yhe context it was said.. I know people who are far from millionaires that have went there and they saved their life. You dont need to be a millionaire to recieve service from sloan ketterin.
She wasnt downplaying anything if you listened to the whole announcement. She got choked up. She said she thought she was going to die. Howard thought it too. To now come out on the otherside of it she can look back now and is at a place where they can joke about it. ThATS why she is ready to talk about it. And at the end of the day its a show it needs to be entertaining and howard always has a hard time going there emotionally and his defense is to make a joke. It was a joke to say she was better on chemo. It wasnt to be taken so literal.
Im sorry for whateva personal hardships you may have went through but you dont have the right to judge her personal experience and say she should have been at work since she was so great. you also dont have the right to tell her what shes allowed and not allowed to joke about or say regarding her experience. Its HER experience. If for some reason she was blessed to not experience a lot od the common side effects of chemo then God bless her! May she stay well the resy of her life. Shes not taking anything away from someone who is suffering. She suffered. Listen to it again

I have zero experience with MSK. My family couldn't afford it. It's the reality of life for many who get cancer, can't work so are placed on public assistance for $$$ and healthcare.
I did listen to the whole thing, right down to the book plug. As someone who has watched people struggle with cancer until their death I was put off by how she said it was no big deal.
ETA: I'm glad she's better - I think she's a great lady. I'm just talking about my feelings about how her announcement made me feel sour - for both my personal experiences and for anyone who's ever undergone any type of treatment and might not have had a stellar experience. (ie. that person listening on the radio that moment that HAS the death sentence but not the means to fix it.)

I don't think it was a big deal to HER, kwim? like her own experience and sharing it - not her diminishing how it must be for others, ya know?
I've been a listener for a long time. I like Robin. I feel she is usually very upbeat and positive - she's not much of a complainer & seems pretty tough. I think her cancer experience was horrifying for her, but she found the treatments to not be harsh on her. Which is great. Maybe she found it easy for whatever reason. I knew someone who went through chemo and didn't find it that bad - I think some people are just different and react to it differently. I do find those people rare.
not comparing cancer treatments to child birth - but just an example - sometimes here on LIF people say how they had a C-section and felt no pain after really and only took Motrin. I can't comprehend that at ALL. I needed those hardcore drugs for like a week or so. Some people are just different...god bless them. I'd be a big baby and feeling every ounce of pain and discomfort, I bet.

And like i said you did have a personal experience with sloan ketterin- you couldnt receive treatment. And theres a lot more to it besides the fact that your not a millionaire. I know for a fact they dont turn people away for not being millionaires. If they only trreated millionaires their hospital wouldnt be operating.or be the top hospital for cancer treatment.
And you have the right to your opinion i just feel your taking it too literal. Too far. And putting words in her mouth. Clearly due to a lot of anger about something you went through. First off everyones experience is theirs to express however they want. And how they look at life and the hardships is how they get through it. She never said its no big deal. She never said she wasnt shocked by the treatment. The diagnosis. The fact that she needed chemo. She said she was lucky enough to not experience the side effects. She took the meds to help prevent it. In fact im cureently working with a women who is battling cancer and she told me she hasnt had any side effects this tkme around. She comes to work every day. Robin is someone who tries to find the bright side in life. She tries to find the lesson in it. She is someone that through this went to work on air and tried to make other people laugh while she could have possibly been dying. She didny downplay anything
And she is a millionaire and if she can get the best damn treatment out there then who am i to stop her? be angry at her for it? Or judge her? Which im sorry is how you come across in your post. You just seem very defensive about this. Like her experience with cancer was a personal attack on you.
Im sorry im a huge long time fan and today i cried listening to what she went through. And im in shock that anyone can take away from it what you did. Or feel sour about how she sshared her experience. The woman beat cancer just be happy for her.

I believe Kettering takes Medicaid and it takes many other insurances. So you dont have to be rich to be treated there. As far as the chemo thing , some people just react better. A colleague of mine got the treatment on Friday morning rested for 3 days and worked part time the rest of the week. A family member was able to do light exercise daily and continued working part time as well as cooking and gardening. It really, really depends on the person.

I'm sure she was able to continue to work b/c she didn't have to go far since she could work out of her house. She did say he had a colostomy bag and another bag for urine. I don't think it was a piece of cake.

I'm not saying she should have stopped. I didn't say I wish she died. I just said I was put off by it. I took it a different way. It's my opinion. Obviously I was in the minority and that's OK. (besides some folks who called in on the wrap up show that were also a little confused by it.) They're my feelings, that's all.

She missed only 2-3 shows. They set her up with a connection to the show from her home so she would work from there. If you didn't know, you couldn't even tell that she wasn't physically in the studio.

No, that was public knowledge. I think that they just never revealed why in detail except for the fact that it was a health issue.
