how's this for DH's 30th b-day-updated
DH really does NOT want a big party, but I was going to throw him a bbq at our house. The problem is, we have no deck at the moment. We just got the permit on Friday and DH's b-day is July 31- so I don't want to invite people for a bbq and the deck be in mid-construction. So now I came up with the idea of going to Westerly, RI for the weekend. I have to see if they have avaiablity, but what I want to do is pay for 4 rooms for the weekend- so it would be DH and I, and three other couples that we're friends with. I would pay for the rooms, and they would just have to cover their own spending money. We wouldn't be able to leave until everyone gets out of work on Friday. Probably just grab something easy to eat that night and then spend the day at the becah on Saturday. I would make nice dinner reservations in newprt for Sat. night. And then Sunday we can either go to the beach again or take the ferry out to Block Island.
ETS- Well the place we usually stay in Rhode Island doesn't have 4 rooms available, so that's out. I spet some time on the internet and found a reasonable house in Hudson Valley. I think I'm going to rent the house for the weekend. Since we all live in White Plains, it will only be an hour-an hour and a half drive. We'll all leave after work on Friday and then go wine tasting and for a nice dinner on Saturday. It just so happens that they're havionga a wine a food festival trhat weekend at one of the vineyards. Then we can take it easy on Sunday, do some swimming in a private river pool, and come home. How does that sound?

I think it sounds like a great idea. If I were a friend of your DH's, I would think it was very generous of you to pay for our rooms.

I'm so disappointed, the place we normally stay only has 2 rooms available and I would have needed 4.

That's a great idea! I took DH away for his 30th birthday too and it was one of the best trips we've ever been on - better than a big party would have been!

I think it's a great idea as long as your friends are up for the plan.

Sounds like a lot of fun. Once a bunch of us rented a house for the weekend during the summer and had the best time!
