HR question
I have a question.. HR at my company found my resume on Monster, CareerBuilders, & dice and told my director and manager that I was looking for another job. I was confronted by my manager and I told her my reasons... However now I feel like I am treated differently..
Does HR have the right to give that information out to management? Shouldn't the HR person confront me directly before telling management?

Re: HR question
Well I don't think there is anything legally prohibiting them from saying anything although I think it was done in personal and professionally poor taste on their part.
Some advice though - if you are going to post your resume - you might want to leave the name of your current company off in the future. I know MONSTER gives this as an option.
At the least I would hope this is a wakeup call for your boss and learn from the reason you were looking for another job.

Re: HR question
Thanks for your advice...
The reason that I began posting my resume was because I was unsure about what salary range my skill set and education falls under, so by posting my resume I hope to see what the industry is offering right now and hopefully land a better job. Right now many people at my company are being hired at a much higher salary and with less education.
I completed my MBA this past May and only received a 6% raise... some of my newly hired co-workers are making about 20-25% more than I am making now!
Thanks again

Re: HR question
I think HR handled this badly...
You caould request an equity adjustment since others doing the same job are being paid more than you.
Also you can look on salary .com to get a ballpark idea of what your salary should or could be.

Re: HR question
Our internal recruiters often tell managers when they find an employees resume.
The main reason is to protect the company's interests. If you're in a key position, I need to ensure that my company isn't goign to suffer because soemeone leaves without sufficient notice.
Another reason is we have been able to address the reasons why someone is looking for a job outside of our company. Is it a management conflict that can be resolved? Is it something we can fix?
Most people do not leave for money. There are usually other factors, many of which can be resolved.
