I just gave my notice today and I have 10 days left and they are paying me for them. I think it depends on the company but I think most companies will pay you. Also I know that any days that you carry over in my company from last year you don't get paid for.

Re: HR question

They're not required to by NYS law. Does your company have an employee handbook? It should by spelled out there.

If they don't, then they don't have to give you anything.

Re: HR question

My last company did not pay me for my last 3 vacation days when I left. They told me that at the point I was leaving I didn't accrue them

Every company is different but most do pay out for unused vacation days.

Re: HR question

As some other said, some companies will pay you put but they are not required to do so.

That's why some people take all of their vacation and then give notice.

My firm will pay you out for vacation days, but I've worked for places that didn't. I was Pi$$ed!

Majority of places will be only vacation, not personal or sick. As others mentioned, it should be indicated in an employee handbook, or just ask HR.

Re: HR question

Definitely check the employee handbook like Barbara said..... Some companies will say you get 2 weeks a year, but if you leave before the end of the year they will prorate the vacation time.
