HS Teachers-Where do you get supplies/resources?
I will be teaching HS for the first time this year. All of the teacher stores seem geared towards elementary.
Where do you go to curriculum resources/supplements (besides what the district gives)? Just curious!! I will be teaching social studies, so any tips on what to buy/where to go would be helpful!! Thanks so much!!

I teach hs social studies...honestly it is very difficult to find resources and supplements....many of the textbook companies have supplements that your school should have available...socialstudies.com has things you can purchase...i've goine to pbs, history channel, discovery and national geographic....i mostly do searches online when I reach a topic....mrdonn.org has many resources but many of them are geared toward younger students.. if you need anything, I'm here .. good luck

I taught HS SS too, the textbook supplements are good, your colleagues are probably your best source.
Usually I would look for some primary source and then create the lesson based on that. (i.e create questions to go with it) - so important for them to be able to interpret primary documents)
When I first took on Psych/Soc, I bought activity books from this site: socialstudies.com and I liked them so much that I bought the World History ones too (even though I had been teaching it for 6 years already)
They are from The Center for Learning -world history set

I don't teach Social Studies but Teacher's Discovery has a SS section. Good luck!

I find really good funny posters about specific things on cafepress.com. You have to search for a specific topic, though. For example, I love Tudor history, and I found great posters about Henry VIII on that site. Also, I got an Obama bobblehead doll
Oh, I teach 9th grade global and 12th grade government.

I would just do google searches for specific items. I often find resources on Amazon as well.
