HSG 'vs' IUI (pain wise)
I'm thinking about getting this done soon. Is the pain/procedure from the HSG similar to the IUI? or is it much worse? thanks for your help.

I'd say they are - that said, my HSGs were pretty painless
IUI is kinda link the pap, but it lasts a bit longer HSG, it lasts even a little bit longer

Re: HSG 'vs' IUI (pain wise)
It seems it depends on the person....
My HSG was awful painwise...it to me was very very bad.
Iui's I felt nothing. I had 13 iuis and I had minor cramping on two of them, thats the worse of it.

Re: HSG 'vs' IUI (pain wise)
I say nothing alike as well.
I had a very momentary pain with the HSG, but it was sharp, but quick.
As far as IUI, it was like a pap to me, no problem at all.

Re: HSG 'vs' IUI (pain wise)
My HSG was very uncomfortable and I experienced some cramping after it.
IUI was a piece of cake, it was over in a matter of seconds.

Re: HSG 'vs' IUI (pain wise)
Thank you ladies for sharing your experiences I'm so scared of the pain...i'm such a big baby. I'm going to take aspirin before hand.
I mentioned to my RE that maybe I should get it done and she said that she doesn't think my tubes are blocked and my problem is ovulating (due to PCOS) Anyone here have PCOS and did an HSG? if so were your results good?
Thank you so much! I'm really greatful for this board and for you ladies.

Re: HSG 'vs' IUI (pain wise)
I am only going to say this - I went to an RE for eight months and had seven IUI's with no HSG. I am now seeing a different RE and the FIRST thing he asked was if I had ever had an HSG. When I told him no, he said that all those IUI's could have been a waste of time. Just because you have PCOS does not mean you can't have blocked tubes also. Good luck!!!

Re: HSG 'vs' IUI (pain wise)
I would agree with Gerty, very important from the start to check if there are any tube problems.
I found HSG uncomfortable, but felt nothing with IUI
