hugs for a unexpected short hair cut
I just got my hair cut and she cut waaaay more than she expected. 2-3" and I just wanted a trim. I'm so unhappy.

aww...i understand. the good thing is, i feel my hair always grows faster in the summer, so maybe youll feel that too!
also, in about a week, youll find ways to manage it and youll be used to it in no time.

Thanks ladies. It's just affecting me more now because I've had a rough week. I've had one of those weeks where absolutely everything has bothered me, and when one thing finally goes right, another thing goes majorly wrong.
I know it's only hair, but what took me years to grow was quickly gone with a few snips of the scissors.

I know how that feels. that happened to me once several yrs ago. so now when I go, if I want 3" cut off, I tell them 1-2", they usually end up cutting my hair 3" and if by some miracle I get someone who listens, I tell them to cut another inch off.
they NEVER seem to listen! 
ETA: did you ask her why she did that? did she feel that you had a lot of split ends or something like that?

Well, I hate when they do more than you ask. It's totally b/c they get bored with just trimming people's hair and they always want you to do something new...I think! I am sure it feels very healthy and looks great; it will grow back!!!!! Embrace it for now.

This was only my second time at this salon. The first time I had highlights and I barely let her trim it b/c I'm paranoid about that.
This time I told her she could do long layers (she was jonesing to do that last time), but I really want to keep the length. I told her I don't want short hair.
After the first cut (which was in the back), I knew she cut a lot. You can just tell how the scissors sound when they cut more than just the ends off. From that point on, there wasn't much I could do since she would have to even the rest of it out.
When she was blowing it out, I was in shock and couldn't say anything. I paid and ran out of there.
I'm really happy with the color, but I'm afraid to go back again for another cut.
I feel like I have a Carol Brady hair cut, when I used to have a Marsha!

this happened to me a few weeks ago except i told her to just cut off the dead ends- woah what a mistake she cut off about 5 inches and I couldnt see until she was almost half done. Its still growing on me but it gets better each week. The first week I didnt take it out of a ponytail.

I've been there too My mom says our hair goes into "shock" after a cut...esp a short one. Don't worry, after a day or 2 it will settle in and you may even like it. Plus it will grow back.
