Human Resources

I just sent my resume electronically for a position in which I am highly qualified for. The posting is only up for three days-yesterday through tomorrow. The thing is, they are probably going to be inundated with resumes, and I really want this position. Should I call the place? If so, what do I say? Thanks. I just don't want to be passed over!

Re: Human Resources

Was this an internal posting for your company?

I would call the place to confirm that they received your resume. My friend got a job & an interview by following up. HR told her that they were inundated with resumes & were thrilled to have someone who has follow-up skills.

Re: Human Resources

I am not sure about calling but...

1) Fax another copy of the resume so they can see you are determined

or

2) Call and ask the receptionist or asst to HR for the HR persons direct email and write a cover letter and attach your resume again. OR send the HR person a nice email about how interested you are in the position...yada yada.

The only way I would call the person and speak to them directly was if you knew someone that worked there or knew the person conducting the search.

Re: Human Resources

I would call and follow up.

When I was a recruiter, I used to hate it when I got duplicate copies of resumes - especially when there were lots of resumes coming in.

I would read it and think "This sounds familiar." It frustrated the hell out of me.

But I never minded someone calling once to follow up and ensure I got the resume. Key word being once. There would be some people who called EVERY DAY and all I could see was a future of them being in my office with an issue every day if we hired them.

Good luck!! I hope you get the job!!

Re: Human Resources

I'd call. Following up is never a bad thing in my book.
