Hunger (for those in 2nd and 3rd tri)
I'm pretty hungry these days (11 1/2 weeks) but I haven't gained yet so I'm not too worried. I heard your appetite gets much bigger as you move along...my question is, is that true and how bad is it? Do you eat or do you try to watch/eat less knowing the baby really only needs 300-500 calories more?

Re: Hunger (for those in 2nd and 3rd tri)
I am 21 weeks and try to eat every 3 hours or so, small snacks. Even doing that, there are some nights midnight that I feel like I have not eaten in 6 years......
So, I chalk it up to growth spurts!!!!!
But, yes, there are times Im STARVING.....

Re: Hunger (for those in 2nd and 3rd tri)
I am way hungrier now at 24 weeks. I try to eat things that will fill me up like peanut butter on whole wheat toast or for a snack I have almonds. That way I don't end up eating all day long.

Re: Hunger (for those in 2nd and 3rd tri)
I haven't really noticed a considerable appetite increase this whole pregnancy, which has helped keep my weight gain down, but let me tell you...the last 2 weeks, all I want is baked goods, candy, etc., and I've been giving in wayyyy too much on those!! I need to stop!

Re: Hunger (for those in 2nd and 3rd tri)
26 weeks and for a while I was eating every 2 1/2 to 3 hrs, not alot...a yogurt here, a pb & J sandwich there.
Now...I'll get hungry, eat a few bites and feel like there is no room for more

Re: Hunger (for those in 2nd and 3rd tri)
there is def an increase in appetite as you go along. I find myself eating little things here and there all day long. Most of the time i eat fruits, or cereal. But I am always hungry.

Re: Hunger (for those in 2nd and 3rd tri)
I'm 15 weeks and although I have noticed I am more "hungry" I do not have more of an appetite. Which is strange because I had a much bigger appetite pre-preg! I eat when I am hungry and stop when I feel full and unfortunately - that happens fast for some reason!

Re: Hunger (for those in 2nd and 3rd tri)
the hunger is definitely there for me - but it evens out because I can't fit too much in my belly! So I think that's why I get hungry sooner.

I also did not gain any weight in my first tri

Re: Hunger (for those in 2nd and 3rd tri)
This pregnancy - my hunger started after the 1st trimester but I ate when I was hungry and was fine. I do feel hungry a lot more than usual but it isn't horrible. I just try to eat lots of small meals and snacks all day long. I am 18 weeks and still haven't gained any weight - just developing a belly. Last time I was pregnant, I was starving all the time in my first trimester - esp early on - like 6-8 weeks. That combined with all day m/s - I needed to eat so much all day but that slowed down when the m/s wasn't as bad. I started eating normally after 15 weeks and continued thru the end that way.

I am slightly hungry but not much more than say usual - I do find I have to eat very small portions or I feel sick - so I eat more often.

Re: Hunger (for those in 2nd and 3rd tri)
I'm no longer pg but I found that I had to eat smaller meals and more snacks during most of my pregnancy. I could never let my stomach be empty or I'd feel sick.
There was a period near the end (about 35-37 weeks) when I wasn't hungry at all so I just snacked every few hours. I felt full all the time and a full meal would make me incredibly uncomfortable. Then after that period, I was insatiably hungry until I delivered.

Re: Hunger (for those in 2nd and 3rd tri)
I've pretty much eaten anytime I'm hungry - but I dont binge, I literally eat something everytime I'm hungry... I didnt gain weight until my 20-something week, then gained a lot, and slowed down in my 3rd tri - I havent gained a pound in 3 weeks - so far, I'm up to 35 pounds at 37 weeks, which I'm happy with....
