Hungry Baby...
Ryan eats between 4-5oz every 3 hrs... We RARELY ever make it too 4, and for the past few days we dont even make it to 3
The DR told me, that 4-5 oz every 2 hrs is too much.... but what am I supposed to do... Ive tried offering him 6 oz but he just wont take it...???
The past couple of nights he didnt even make the long stretches (usually between 6-8 hrs) we were up every 3 like clock work and downed his whole bottle...
DO you think its just a growth spurt thing??? Or do you think he needs something more????
He is 2.5 months old....???

I don't think he needs something other than formula -- formula has more calories per oz than any solid food would.
I can't comment on the amount though, I have no idea what quantity my baby is taking, but I can say that at 8.5 months my daughter still eats every 3 hours during the day, so the frequency doesn't seem surprising to me at all...

Re: Hungry Baby...
Im not concerned about the every 3 hrs... Im perfectly fine with that... its that he's not even making it to 3 hrs... and the last time I was at the DR and said sometimes he eats every 2... The Dr turned to me and said.... 4-5oz every 2 hrs.. is too much food....
He has been sleeping alot lately too....So im really just trying to figure out if this is a growth spurt, hence the reason why hes so hungry!

Re: Hungry Baby...
Could be a growth spurt. When Connor wasn't making it to 3 hours the doc had me give him a little water.
Connor aslo never at more than 4ozs at a time till recently (he is almost 8 months)
Connor started solids at about 3.5 months because he was drinking to much formula.
I think 2.5 months is a bit early but I think some of the girls here did it that early or earlier.
You have to just becareful. One of the kids at Connors daycare ate food very early and now has a weight issue and at 10 moths old is on a diet

Re: Hungry Baby...
This happened to me when my daughter was Ryans age. I wouold give her a couple of ounces during the night also. This was after she was sleeping through the night for a month. My doctor told me not to give her formula during the night. I was like WHAT you come to my house and deal with my screaing baby. Anyway, I took her advice. I knew that Grace could make the long stretches without being fed so I just put her in her bouncy and rocked her until her until she fell asleep. Sometimes it took a while. As soon as 6am hit though she got a bottle. Now she is 8 months, ocassionally when we are having one of those nights, I give her a little water. Hope this helps. Did you try to give him more before bed? That may help.

Re: Hungry Baby...
If he's sleeping and eating a lot, I would tend to think a growth spurt. Honestly, I don't know exactly how much either one of my kids got, but they would eat more than what he's eating and it was never an issue with their Dr. Although, I also know I BF and I think that there's a limit on formula in a day???? Gianni's eating about 4-5 oz with - in atleast every 1-2 hours during the day and at night about 2-4, depending. I know over the last couple of days he's in the typical 6 wk spurt though. Both of my kids are also at the top of the charts and the Dr was never concerned about being overweight either. She said it's not really a concern until they are 3-4 and very active (or should be very active.) Although, they also are at a higher percentile for height, so she would expect them to fall higher on the weight. Every kid is different though.
