Huntington Hospital Girls
I am so glad I took the tour, it seems like such a difference from Winthrop. My only concern is not being able to get a private room, and having to use the shower out in the hallway. If you didn't have a private room how bad was showering? The place was a ghost town this afternoon, only two babies

Re: Huntington Hospital Girls
I had a semi private room...but never had a roommate, I had a c/s so I was there for a few days. The last night they switched me to a private room b/c there was suddenly a problem with my room and they had an open private. Seriously, it seemed so empty while I was there, the shower down the hall wasn't a problem.

Re: Huntington Hospital Girls
i didnt have a private room but i had no roommate til the day i was leaving, i was getting checked out when they brought her in.. so that was cool. the shower in the hallway thing was strange.. but not bad. i mean i just walked across the hall to it in my robe and walked back to my room in my robe too. no biggie. i have no complaints about the hospital or staff.. everyone was very nice and helpful.

Re: Huntington Hospital Girls
actually it wasn't THAT bad- i was concerned about that too. i had to share a room although i got the room to myself for 2 nights so it was ok. as for the shower in the hall- it was not ideal and grossed me out BUT i made sure i was the first person to use it each morning while i was there. doing that made me feel better i actually would get up a 6 am to shower. it wasn't so bad. i kept reminding myself it was just temporary and i'd be home in a few days. just to add: my experience @ huntington was absolutely wonderful. the dr.s nurses, staff were incredible. i felt very taken care of and now that i look back i wish i had stayed the extra night!

Re: Huntington Hospital Girls
shower situation was not bad - there is a shower with sliding doors - I used that one - not the dorm like ones!!!

I didn't have a private room either time, but had my own room the last time. I used the showers in the hall. They were fine. Not ideal but also not worth $350 to have my own shower IMO.

The $250.00 is totally worth it to me, not only for my own shower but the extra space for Roman, and visitors. My experience at Winthrop was horrible. I had two roomates who both had tremendously large loud families who did not respect my privacy at all.

Re: Huntington Hospital Girls
I was able to get my own room and it was great!!! I had my own shower and didn't have to be worried about keeping someone else's schedule. I BF at night so I wasn't concerned about waking someone else either. It was probably the best $500 I've ever spent.

I'm with you on this one... We could not justify spending $1000 on a private room (I knew I was haveing a c-section)

Re: Huntington Hospital Girls
I will pay the $ agian for the private room.. I wanted my own space and didnt like the idea of sharing a room or the showers.. It was packed when I was there and I sill got a room last one bu I got it.. If you dont get one ask for a bed by the window that way your rooomates family doesnt have to pass you everytime they come and go.. dont worry so much just bring flip flops like at camp or college..

Re: Huntington Hospital Girls
Christine, i asked for a private room and one was not available the first night. i was in a room with a mom who had a c section and was on her second child. i used the showers in the hall and it was fine. make sure you bring flip flops and you will be fine. the showers are tremendous you could fit a 2 ton elephant in them and found them to be very clean. i ended up with a private room the next day and we only had to pay $250 for it - insurance wouldnt cover it all. i would spend that on a hotel room so felt it was worth it for privacy and since i was bfing. but ended up olivia was in nicu beucase of a fever and i had to go to the nicu every 3 hours to nurse. fm if you have any questions.

Re: Huntington Hospital Girls
I didn't have a private room, but, I had no room mate until my last night there. It worked out perfectly.
I used the showers in the hall. I had a c section as well. Walking to the showers was not a big deal. I found them to be quite clean and roomy. I also had my gall bladder out back in June, same situation..I was on a totally different floor and still found the bathrooms to be clean and roomy... Like one of the poster's said..Bring flip flops and you will be fine.
The staff at Huntington are GREAT!!!

Re: Huntington Hospital Girls
It was no big deal using the hallway showers. It was just a few steps from your room and it's not like there are tons of people standing in the hallway.

Re: Huntington Hospital Girls
I didn't have a private room but I had my own room for both deliveries (4 days) . Both times was also a ghost town. I was very lucky.
