Hurricane on LI
There was an article in today's New York Times about how devastated LI would be by a hurricane and how it is inevitable that a big one will hit one day. The last big one hit in 1938 and devastated the east end. Fortunately, we prob will never experience a Category 5 since it is not as warm up here but we may get one this year because the Atlantic temperature off LI is unusually warm this year. Scary stuff as we watch the devastation from these terrible storms.

Re: Hurricane on LI
Yeah, I remember Gloria in '85 or '86? My neighbors had a huge tree that was uprooted and it pulled up the sidewalk too. And there were power lines down in our yard.
I live north of NYC so I don't know if we'll be hit by a hurricane, though we seem to get more rain here than LI does.

I remember Gloria too. I remember a tree fell on my neighbors roof. Remember listening to the radio with my mom.

I remember Gloria. Yikes. My friend had a beautiful inground pool in the yard with a slide and diving board. When Gloria came through, there was nothing left of the pool. Its very scary stuff. I feel so bad for everyone in New Orleans.
