husbands who work erratic schedules?
my dh's schedule is very erratic, so i am alone most of the week by myself and my little girl. how did you ladies deal with being a "single mom" for the majority of the time?

Re: husbands who work erratic schedules?
Lots and lots of playgroups and activities so that I have somewhere to go every day and other adults to talk to.

Re: husbands who work erratic schedules?
I'm with you. I work during the day and DH takes DD to daycare. But after work I pick her up frmo day care, go home or to my sisters, feed her, play with her, bathe her, dress her and put her to bed. Sometimes he coems home after her bath
When I was home with her I had a playgroup and went to luncheons for new moms. I woudl get together with my sister and her daughter or my friends with kids.

how do i deal?
DH leaves the house anywhere between 6:30 and 7:30 am, then comes home anywhere between 10:00 pm -12:00 am. there is nothing "erratic" about his schedule, he is consistently never home .
i can keep myself and DD entertained, that's no problem, it's the errands, house cleaning and improvements that suffer.
My dh leaves around 10 -11 am and doesn't come home til midnight or even later than that. He LOVES what he does so him changing jobs isn't an option. But like you the errands, house cleaning and MY APPERANCE, suffers.
I guess i wanted to vent about this issue and also get ideas on how to keep myself entertained.

Re: husbands who work erratic schedules?
My husband works midnights- 11pm-8am, off on Sundays and Mondays. We thought this woul dbe good, and it IS in a lot of ways, but we never factored in sleeping and how difficult that is to do during the day. So pretty much I am single mom, and while I am used to it, it does suck sometimes. Its gets lonely and inconvienent to have to go shopping by yourself, do dr's appts by yourself, do her bath, bottle ,bed routine by yourself. My family lives far away too, so its not like my mom can stop over for a few hours while I go get stuff done. Its neverending. I am tryign to find a Mommy and Me type class in my area- but I can't.
No suggestions on how to handle it- I just do. We have no other choice. His workign at night gives us more money, allowing me to stay home. You're not alone though- if you ever need to talk/vent, FM me.
