Hypo/Hyper Thyroidism

Anyone here with thyroid issues?

I am thinking that I may have probems with my thyroid... I have had bloodwork done in the past, but nothing conclusive. I can't take it anymore and am seeing a doctor tomorrow and I want a complete workup done. I feel like something is going on, but I can't pinpoint it.

Here are my symptoms, some have been worse than others lately:

Always feeling Tired/exhausted
VERY difficult to get up in the morning
Poor ciruclation
Always feeling cold, particularly feet, hands, nose and ears)
Dry skin
Irregular periods
Overweight (always have been, have to starve myself and exercise like crazy to keep weight off--lots of up and down numbers on the scale for since HS) and really I am not out eating McDonald's every night... if anything, I probably don't eat enough)

Re: Hypo/Hyper Thyroidism

I am about to go for testing on this as m y prolactin level came back at my last blood test as very off.
Because I am at the start I can't share much but the one thing I do know is you can ask your dr to take blood samples and look at your prolactin levels.

I KNOW there are some girls on this board that have had surgery and/or are on syntheroid or other thyroid meds that will be much better help than I am.

Good luck at the doctor tomorrow.

You may also want to ask about PCOS.

Prolactin...I've heard of that.... but can't remember in what context? What do you know about that hormone?

Re: Hypo/Hyper Thyroidism

I have hypo-thyroidism. If you have it then your bloodwork would be off. They discovered it in me when I was 17 way before I had any symptoms by a blood test. Since then I have had my medication (synthroid) upped throughout the years especially when I was pregnant. Symptoms for hypo-thyriodism are weight gain, lagging reflexes, tiredness...... I'd have your doctor run another blood test to make sure you are ok. Hope this helped!

Thanks... I've had bloodwork done years ago, and they always said it was "borderline". My mom has hypo-thyroidism... so now i am wondering i i've developed it, or is it something else?
