hypoallergenic dogs?
My daughter and I have allergies to dogs - I know there are some breeds that are "hypoallergenic" although it's still not a guarantee.
Does anyone have one of these breeds (labrodoodle maybe?) Does anyone in the family still have allergic reactions from them?

Its hard to tell what kind of reaction you will have, especially on mixed breeds. If the dog is more labrador than poodle, you may still have a reaction. If you are looking for a mixed breed, try to find one where both breeds are 'hypoallergenic'. My dog is a Schnauzer/Havanese mix and I have no reactions. Oddly enough, I am more sensitive to my moms pure bred Yorkie.

Re: hypoallergenic dogs?
My mother has a Maltese and they have hair, not fur, so no dander to be allergic to.
Also, I believe the same applies to poodles, but I am not 100%.

Same for Shih Tzu's. My step son is allergic to dog dander and he is fine with our 2. He just cant sleep with our Lab :)

Re: hypoallergenic dogs?
my dogs are both havanese which are hypoallergenic. One is definitely a pure breed. The other one I'm not so sure. My husband is very allergic to dogs. He's ok with them but if he plays with them too much he has to wash is wrists and hands right away because they'll get red and itchy.

Re: hypoallergenic dogs?
What size dog are you looking to have?
I wanted small dogs.
I am VERY allergic to dogs. I will have sinus headaches constantly otherwise and a nose turned into a complete faucet.
The Havenese is a pure breed hypoallergenic dog.
Otherwise you have "designer" dogs. Bred for speciafic reasons. Essentially they are mixed dogs.
My two dogs are Cavapoos. A poodle and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel mix.
Most hypoallegenic mixed dog are mixed with poodles because poodles do not shed and don't have dander.
The poodle genes are 95% dominating in most breed mix. But there is a chance that 5% does not work. Luckily both worked in the case of my dogs.
But remember to study which breed is being mixed. For example, my 2 dogs are both cavapoos. One is more spaniel looking and totally spaniel spirited. He is a complete loving mush. He just thrives to please us. The other one is more poodle and poodle attitude too. I did say "attitude". He is very smart but a PITA especially with the other dog. He is the alpha even if he is smaller. Poodles can be "difficult".
Because they were small dogs I trained them as soon as I got both of them at 10 weeks old. Especially since they have poodle blood in them. The one who is more poodle needs to be reminded that "I" am the alpha and put back in his place.
But BOTH are loving dogs with children. They just love children. They love DS. DS will lay on them and they just look at me as "what do you want us to do mommy?". They are so excited with DS comes from the bus. I do not fear for a second for DS with them.
I could not have dogs if they were not hypoallergenic.

Re: hypoallergenic dogs?
No such thing as hypoallergenic.. Low allergy is the term I have learned.. Saliva is one of the issues and thats the reason.. Find out if you are allergic to saliva and then get a low allergy breed.. ie: maltese , Havanese, poodle, shnouzer (sp?) and others people mentioned.. GL
