I actually broke down on Fri at work (repost)
and I am so mad at myself. Friends of ours just announced they are pg with their second, it was a total shock since the 1st one they had to do IUI. My dh was so excited for them and so was I but I did start to cry, why everyone and not me. I thought I finally was ok with the what ever happens happens approach, but obviously I am not.
My dh and I spent Fri nite talking and he said if I want to go back to the dr make the appt and we'll go, if not, we have to wait unti the end of the year to start the adoption process ($$) and then we can go from there. Whatever I decide.
I am so confused. I am 41 and dont know if I really want the medicines in my body. should I do maybe 1 more IUI, 1 IVF then adoption, I have no idea. Insurance isn't a problem because mine pays for everything.
Any advice would really help.

I am also 41 and have opted to do IVF for as many cycles as I can till the end of the year. With the age factor, I don't think IUI's are a great idea only because the success rate is only about 10% higher than natural. We aren't going to adopt for two reasons. The first being that it's another lengthy process that takes at least a year and the second is that I really want to "carry" DH and my child.
Good luck with whatever you decide, it's a tough time.

A Dr at Columbia told me 2-3% more than natural(dr. Guernaccia)

If you ever want adoption information feel free to PM me. My son, Jason, is adopted from Ethiopia. The process was about 15 months BUT it could have been closer to 12 months if I did my paperwork faster. I have a bioligical daughter and an adopted son and in all honestly I do not even feel any difference in my love for them or the way I feel when I look at them.

I tend to agree with Gerty. I think IVF is your answer. I think IUI might be a waste of time with the age factor. If your insurance covers it, I think its totally worth a shot.
Good luck to you in whatever you decide.

Good Luck in whatever you decide. I think IVF would be a great option for you as well. And it wasn't that bad!!

I think IVF is your best option especially if your insurance pays for it. Honestly the medications did not make me feel as sick as I thought they would. Good Luck in whatever you choose!

I am with the other ladies. If the insurance is going to cover it anyway you might as well try the ivf. What do you have to lose, well other then sanity . If you try the IVF there will be no what if's. and if it fails do the adoption at the end of the year like planned.
