I always see a lot of moms with

Maclaren umbrella strollers. There were tons of them at the Bronx Zoo when I went on Sunday (funny, I notice that instead of the animals..Lol).
I have a cheap 20 dollar umbrella stroller from Carters that is a PITA to fold up and seems too small for Jared.

Are they worth the money?

I love my Maclaran umbrella stroller. It folds up nicely and is light.

Yes, I would assume they are worth the money, but I don't have one. My $50 Chicco umbrella stroller is jsut as good and I love it.

I see a lot of people with them too but when my sister and I were doing our registries we really checked them out and I didn't think they were worth the money. Compaired to some of the cheaper options otu there (for example the Combi C5 or Strollee which is the one I really liked!) they just didn't have all of the extras -- like roomy underneath baskets, reclining seats, etc.

This is the one I am planning on getting

It is the Combi Strollee which isn't sold many places. They sell it at BBB and One Step Ahead also sells it -- so it must be good! They just put thier own name on it but it's the same thing.

I like the fact that it folds up like an umbrella stroller and has the carry strap -- plus it has a reclining seat and a good sized basket underneath. I tested it out at BBB and it was very easy to use.

Baby Trend also makes a good one that you can buy at BRU for $40.

We have the Chicco Tuscany, I use it for exactly that... Zoo trip, Florida, etc....

Its great, it was $70 when I got it I see its now around $50.
ONLY thing I hate about this or any other umbrella is when you load the handles and take the child out it'll fall over. My peg doesn't do that. I guess I carry too much crapola! LOL

I have the Chicco C5 and I love it. It folds up like an umbrella stroller and has a handle on the side to carry it like a duffle bag. It reclines and comes with a plastic rain cover. Also the handles are pretty high so it's great if you are tall. It was $89.99 at BRU.

I think we both have the same Eddie Bauer travel system and I am so happy with the Chicco. Cuz I hated lugging around the other one.

Don't forget the Combi Cosmo -- I've seen this one at BRU too and it's very nice, just a little bit more expensive but still under $70.

I have a Combi city savvy stroller and I love it for trips out and it folds up really small. We only use the metrolite stroller for long walks or all day kinda outtings

We just bought this one last week from BRU for my DH's car. We haven't used it yet, but it looks good. It's made by Trendsport and it was only $40.

I test drove the double McClaren and just couldn't justify the price either. I love my double Combi and it was much cheaper! Folds up smaller which is a necessity for us traveling back and forth to LI.

ETS: I realize you are looking for a single. I was just saying in my experience with the double. Even if I had to buy a single, I would buy the Combi over the McClaren.

We got the jeep umbrella stroller from BRU. DDis only 7 weeks old though sowe haven't used it yet

I have the Macalren and I don't love it. I love that it is so lightweight compared to the travel system but that's about all I love. The basket is too small, the sun shade is tiny, there is no tray and he never really fits right in it. I wish I had done more research before registering. It was just so overwhelming I did not know what was on my list.
