I am 12w pregnant and I started to bleed today.
I woke up around 4 am to use the bathroom and I had red blood in the toilet and on the tissue.
I immediately freaked out. I was crying and I woke up my husband. I had a MC in May (7w) and it brought back so many bad memories.
I went to the ER at North Shore. They were very nice. I saw the baby moving around and the bleeding seemed to stop.
After an uncomfortable exam, they gave me no real reason why I was bleeding.
I have a cold and I am coughing a lot. The Dr. said that any viral infection puts you at higher risk of a MC.
I never heard of that.
Then they took my urine and said I have a UTI and gave me a script for it. I have no symptoms of a UTI. I have had them before and they are painful, but I have no symptoms.
I don't want to take the meds without talking to my DR.
I just had my Ultrascreen on Thursday and everything was great.
Has anyone started bleeding later in their pregnancy?
I am so nervous.

I am so happy you and baby are ok I had bleeding early on in my pregnancy and baby is doing well I ran to my dr. and every thing was ok

i'm glad to hear ur ok. i would definitely call ur dr and ask if the meds are ok. they're probably not open on saturdays but i'm sure they have an answering service and a dr will get back to you today.

I had a really bad UTI once where there was blood in my urine. Hopefully that is the reason why you saw the blood.

Almost the same thing happened to me around 9 weeks.
I woke up, went to the bathroom and noticed blood. I too had an earlier m/c so I woke up DH and we went to the ER as welll. Like you, they didn't know why I was bleeding and I had a UTI.
I had an internal and my cervix was closed and I had a sonogram and saw the baby and heard his heartbeat.
I'm currenty 19w2d. Feel better!

i just had some bleeded (minimal) at 33 weeks  there is just no cause sometimes! the cervix is very sensitive and has TONS of tiny blood vessels that sometimes bleed for no reason of if aggrivated even the slightest bit
if the baby looked good and they couldnt find anything, I wouldnt stress it.

I had bright red bleeding at 11 weeks, the day after I first heard the heartbeat with the doppler. The doctor had no idea why I bled, but said it was fairly common. I now have a healthy 15 month old. I hope everything is okay. Try to drink a lot of water and relax.

so glad you and baby are okay! our nerves get the best of us sometimes, i wouldn't worry about the meds, they wouldn't have prescribed them if they weren't safe for you to use. best of luck!

i bleed from 10w to 12w i passed large clots it was like af i was put on bedrest during that time and i now have a healthy ds.
stay strong and do as the dr says and it will all go well. best of luck

Yes i have bled at around 17 or 18 weeks too. I went to the ER and I was fine. They couldnt explain why it happened. Since then I have had some brown spotting once in awhile. I just dont know why it happens. Everything is fine especially since u were checked out. I think i was doin too much and that caused me to bleed a little. Dont worry keep thinking positive thoughts! :)

I had some bleeding at 32 weeks, went to L&D, by the time I got there it had stopped - they were never able to give me an explanation but everything was fine. Sometimes these things just happen. Try not to worry too much.

Me too. It looked really red too. I know you went to the ER, did they tell you the bleeding was definitely from the vagina?

Me too. It looked really red too. I know you went to the ER, did they tell you the bleeding was definitely from the vagina?
Yes it was from the vagina, but it stopped when I got there. They really had no answer as to why it happened. As long as you are not dilated and you are not soaking through a few maxi pads they consider it "spotting".
It was more then that for me, but I am glad it stopped.
I called the emergency number to my Dr. office and the Dr. told it happens sometimes in your first trimester with no reason at all. I am going in for an appoinetment on Wednesday.
Thank God the baby looks OK. The baby was moving around and the heart rate was good.
I am still very nervous.
Are you still bleeding?

i used to get chronic UTI's and sometimes, when they were very bad there was blood.
the trouble with UTI's and PG is that most of the time, you WONT have any symptoms!!!

Really! I guess it's Ok to take the meds then. So many get UTIs. I just don't want to take anythignt hat could hurt the baby.

I haven't had the bleeding, but I did have a UTI with NO symptoms. They tested my urine like they always do at every visit, and it came back with a UTI. I wasn't feeling any pain...I've had them before when I wasn't preggo, and I felt pain then. So they put me on Amoxicillan.
But I would still call your OB to be sure, and follow up with them about the bleeding. Hope all is well.

I started bleeding at 18w. I didn't have any signs of a UTI but that's what it was. I was put on meds, my Dr. said it was better to be on the meds than not. She said the infection could get worse and turn to a kidney infection and that could hurt the baby more than any meds. There are meds that are safe to take at 12w on. Check with the Dr. Hope it all works out.

i wouldnt be too worried about the antibiotics...im sure they gave you something that was safe for PG. when i was PG with DS i had them a a couple times and took meds. thankfully, i havent had one this time around...yet.
if you dont take the meds, you risk the infection spreading to your kidneys which is much, much worse!!
