I am baffled

So, I have been going to the gym for a month now, at least 4x a week. I do about 30-45 minutes on the treadmill at a slight incline (I have bad knees). My goal is 1.5 - 2 miles. Then I also do the machines for my abs, arms, legs, thighs etc.

I can definitely tell that most of my clothes are fitting differently.

But the scale is HARDLY budging! And trust me, I scaled back a lot on my diet. I do not know what I could be doing wrong..

I went for my 1 month measurements and they lost my original card Chat Icon so I can't even compare it to that.

What is going on??!! Chat Icon I am starting to think I have something medically wrong here.

Re: I am baffled

while this is the hardest thing to do (and I have a hard time with it myself)-- do not get hung up on the scale. Eventually, it WILL move.

My scale has been at the same weight for like 3 weeks now-- and it's SO frustrating, but I know, you just have to keep at it.

I remember when I was dieting for my wedding-- I was hardcore.... and it took about 8 WEEKS for my scale to change. And when it did, it was over a 4 lbs loss. While on the scale it appeared to have just happen overnight, I am sure it was a gradual change that the scale just registered one day.

Because I have experienced this before, I know.. I just have to be patient... as you do as well!

Hang in there!

Don't cut back too far on how many calories you're eating - don't go below 1400 calories. And any weight training you do (heavy weights) in addition to aerobic exercise will speed up your weight loss.

Also, do intervals on the treadmill, or if your knee hurts, try the bike.
I just got back from the gym and did this on the bike:

5 minute warm-up
1 minute hard (high resistance, so it's pretty hard to pedal)
2 minutes recovery (lower resistance)
1 minute hard
2 minutes recovery
1 minute hard
2 minutes recovery
1 minute hard
5 minutes cool-down

High intensity intervals work WAY better than steady state cardio. Try it! It's not bad at all Chat Icon

You say that your clothes are fitting differently. What's more important - that, or the number on a scale? Remember that your weight can be affected by many things, like your time of the month, or how big/salty your dinner was the night before.

Your clothes are looser, your heart is getting healthier, you're making positive changes to your lifestyle... you're doing fine! Keep it up and don't worry about your scale!

I am the same way right now I am at a weight I am not happy with! I have been going to the gym and walking on the days i don't. I have been eating well- but I think drinking (weekends) is what is making the scale not move Chat Icon
