I am breaking out so bad

my face has never looked worse and its making me so depressed...alot of the creams from the dermatologist i cant use b/c in the sun it kills my skin--i take benzaclyn and it used to work wonders but now just nothing at all is work,...one side of my face has so many pimples i dont even wanna look in the mirror..can any1 recommend a natural remedy or just something to get rid of these awful things! :(

It's expensive, but I started to get blue light treatments. They were working, but I had to stop because I got pregnant. It cleared up my skin. I was supposed to get 3-4 treatments but only made it thru 2.

I would recommend getting a facial at Mario Badescu. Let them recommend products for your particular skin. HTH

I just read that adding zinc to your diet promotes clear skin. I am thinking of getting a zinc supplement.

Foods high in zinc are oysters, turkey, eggs and seafood.

You said the sun is making it so that you can't use a lot of the products. Can you limit your sun exposure? Wear hats? Sunscreen, will that help? Getting a lot of sun is so bad for your skin anyway...

I work with a girl who no matter what could not clear up her acne. She stopped using ALL makeup unless it was prescriptives which doesn't have an ingredient in it that most other makeup has, that her dermo said was irritating her acne and making it worse, and she also gets some type of chemical/peel treatment once a month. I don't know what exactly it is but her face has gone from really really bad to almost perfect in a very short amount of time. She sees a dermo in NYC .... I can find out more info for you if you'd like me to.

I had really bad skin...but honestly isn't that bad anymore...I've been using Bare Mineral makeup...and I always use a face mosturizer with sun screen in it

I love proactiv. Plus I make sure to moisturize. In addition I have moved over from liquid foundation to Bare Escentuals and my skin has never looked better.

I hear ya on the breaking out issue. I'm 37 and my skin is horrible. It's been worse actually, and the scars too. Funny enough when I was pregnant it cleared up big time, it was great! But after the baby was born (3 months later) it got bad again. I think the city pollution triggers it as I was on maternity leave (and I live 2 hrs north of the city) for 3 montsh after the baby was born and didn't break out. Go back to work, breakouts!

I drink TONS of water - that sometimes seems to help. I notice I break out more when I don't drink at least 100 oz of water a day (5 20 oz bottles). Don't use anything grainy as a cleanser, it will just irritate your skin.

You can try Accutane but I personally did not want to as I was thinking about TTC'ing and Accutane can cause serious birth defects. I didn't want to take any chances. But if you are not TTC'ing maybe it's worth checking out with your dermatologist. I also had to get steroid shots (yep in the face) but they weren't too bad. They cleared up right away too. I know there's some antibiotics you can take but yes your skin becomes super sensitive to the sun from them. You could always wear a hat, but I bought a sun visor and wore it walking to work. Yeah I felt like a doofus but it didn't flatten my hair like a hat would and kept my face shaded.

In the meantime, use a moisturizer with a tint or a bit of tanless suncreme in it - everyone looks better with a bit of color and the breakout won't appear as bad.

my entire chin and jaw area is a mess right now from stress!!!

And my scratching them doesnt help the scars any yet I cant seem to stop myself

I am having the same problem. My derm put me on antibiotics and this new cream, something with a Z...I forget the name. Also, its important to go to the derm so she can do extractions.

I used proactiv before I was pregnant and it worked wonderfully. The three step system is easy to use, and they have a lot of other products that work very well and compliment the system, such as sunscreen and make-up remover wipes.

did you normally have problems with your skin?

Maybe it's something in your laundry/sheets/pillow?

Like the other girls said, if the DR is prescribing you medication that makes you sun-sensitive, use it and wear a hat if you are going to be outdoors (I had to do that one time and it's BETTER than bad skin!)

If you wear make-up, I would buy new brushes and stuff, don't pick, etc so you do not spread and keep reinfecting the area.

Do you have sensitive skin? I had very bad skin for a long time and tried many different things. SOme would work for a while and then the pimples would just come back while others would make it worse. I went to get a high end facial and it was so helpful. She told me in additional to the acne, I was having some type of allergic reaction. I cleared out my medicine cabinet and makeup bag and opted for all sensitive skin products. I use a gentle cleanser on my face and pat it dry. Use 5% benzoyl peroxide over my whole face and then moisturize. I do this in the morning and at night. It has worked wonders!

i don't break out on my face BUT i break out on my back, i went to the derm and we are doing three things to clear it up
1. i am on antibiotics, they make me sensitive to the sun BUT i just use a moisturizer with SPF in it and I have not noticed any problems.
2. he cleans my back and face one a week with this really cold stuff, i forget what it is ( it stinks that i have to go every week, but since he gives me the samples for the antibiotics - the $20 weekly copay isnt too bad
3. if i notice a break out I take Zyrtec, because he said it could be caused by an allergic reaction

So far, slowly but surely my acne is clearing up!

Also, on my own I use a product with benzoyl peroxide once a day on my back.

retin-a micro but you have to use it minimally in order for it to work.

I also used proactive before becomming pregnant. It cleared up all of my skin problems. I HIGHLY recommend it.
