Re: I am completely overwhelmed....
I agree with the other poster about calling your OB and pleading your case.
As for right now- GO OUT! Sunlight will do wonders for you. Put your hair in a pony, throw on sunglasses and a pair of shorts and just go! Pack the kids in the stroller, bring snacks, sippy, and a bottle and just WALK- around the block.
I hope things look up for you soon.

Re: I am completely overwhelmed....
Shana, I'm so sorry you are feeling so overwhelmed.. I know I felt that way with one baby at home.. I can't even imagine 2 so close in age and how stressful it is
I agree with what all the other ladies said.. go OUT (even when you don't feel like it) turn to support groups (even acquaintances) and def. call your OB to see if they'd give you some samples of your medication until you get insurance coverage..
I hope you are feeling a bit better soon..

Re: I am completely overwhelmed....
I'm so sorry. I think you should call your acquaintances - they will understand. I know I would if I were one. I know your DD is still very young, but can you somehow make it fun for her to help mommy out?
For the baby crying, try anything and everything. Running water, fans for noise, the vacuum...

Re: I am completely overwhelmed....
lots of hugs to you! I just had a baby 2 mths ago and had a really rough time with it at first (my 2nd baby so I'm juggling a toddler too). Looking back I realize I did have a bit of PPD and it scared me that I didn't do anything about it at the time. My DH works and travels insanely too so I know what you mean.
I def. agree with the suggestion of calling your OB for referrals or meds - it's not good to not address this at all if you're feeling this overwhelmed. Your drs should be able to help you out until you're feeling better.
HUGS to you. You're not alone!

Re: I am completely overwhelmed....
So sorry to hear you are not feeling good Shana!
Can you see if you can get your meds in a generic form? I know Wal Mart and Target each have 4.00 generic programs that you do not need insurance for. Worth a shot

Re: I am completely overwhelmed....
I am sorry you are going through this. So consider this my tough love approach:
you are being penny wise pound foolish. Find a way to get you meds, ask for generic, borrow money. Most of these meds come in samples, and if yours doesnt ask for one that does if you cant pay for it.
Also, know that stopping an SSRI (a type of anti-depressant) abruptly (if thats what you were taking) can cause seratonin withdrawal syndrome. Which is not pretty and could be contributing to your worsening symptoms. Sleep definately impacts, but getting back on meds is something you have the power to control.
The money you are saving by not buying your meds is going to cost you double in the long run, financially and emotionally.

I agree with this, I don't know what you were taking but if it was an ssri then definitely stopping it abruptly could cause worsening depression. Definitely try the things people suggested to get samples of the drug or find a generic at a low price, you need to take care of yourself!

Re: I am completely overwhelmed....
I agree with what the other posters have said - you need to take care of yourself first and I would imagine the doctors office will help you out if you call and explain the situation. Ask to speak to the practice manager or someone other than the front desk person if your doc is not available.
Please get some relief for yourself and I guarantee you everything else will fall into place.
Many, many to you.
hang in there.

Re: I am completely overwhelmed....
Shana, I bumped the post with the link to the PPD support website. It really helped me through some tough times, and the girls on there are wonderful. They might be able to lead you in the direction of some resources to obtain medications.

Re: I am completely overwhelmed....
Like other's have said, you really need to find a way to get the meds you need. If you can't function, you can't take care of your kids and none of us want to see something tragic happen. Especially considering a PP I read the other day.
Please please please for the sake of you and your children, call someone to help you out and call your doctor to get samples or borrow money from someone to get the medicine you need.

Re: I am completely overwhelmed....
Here for you Shana.. Please talk to your OB, there IS an answer. Ask around about local Mother's groups, and try & get out a little bit & get some fresh air, I know it's hot, but even a little bit each day will help.

Re: I am completely overwhelmed....
what about contacting a PPD group? Im sure teh internet has some listed in your area? Maybe they have a support group where you can vent? Where you can even bring the kids?
I would look into something before you become too isolated.

Re: I am completely overwhelmed....
If felt the same way when I had Kevin. One year of therapy for PPD and I still have bad days sometimes.
There are programs for people without insurance or limited coverage to get their meds directly from the drug company. If you want to FM the name of the med I can research it for you. I found out my sister could get a seizure med for free when she didn't have insurance.
Or just go to the drug company's web site and look to see if they have a program to help people get the meds they need for free.

I am so sorry you are going thru a rough patch -
Definetly call your dr and explain what is going on - I am sure they can work something out. Heck - I'd lend you the money and I don't even know you.
