I am feeling Depressed,How would you handle this?

I work in a small place(5 employees)!
I like it there for the most part, but lately have been walking in and hearing Co-Workers whispering about Me!
Just probably very trivial but to me I can't stand it,it makes me stressed and upset!
I like the money and I like my schedule and it is sooooooo close to my house!

i used to work in a small office too, there was only 5 of us including the boss. i hate to say it but i think its normal that people whisper and talk about each other, maybe not even necessarily bad things but everyone is always in everyone elses business. i would take it with a grain of salt and not think about it. i know thats easier said than done, but just go about your day as if it doesnt effect you. eventually they'll get bored with the topic and it will just go away.Chat Icon

ETA: if you're asking how I myself would handle it...i have a very "outward" personality where if i dont like something/someone i say it. so if someone was whispering about me, i would just go up to them and say "W T F???"...but i'm a bad example! Chat Icon

Honestly, people talk about people everywhere. I have heard people at my job talking about me and have had people tell me what others have said about me. Everyone talks about everyone else...It is like middle school where I work. You have to learn to just ignore it, because it really is like this everywhere.
Did you hear what they were saying?

That definitely sux... BUT then again people do that at ALL jobs... I mean, even the best jobs have that... it's annoying and you have a right to be mad about it (I would be the same way) but if you like everything else about the job- SCREW THEM! Why let them ruin a good thing for you? Then, they win! And they are only being that way b/c they are bitter and probably feel crappy about themselves so they love to bring others down-- and misery loves company so that's probably why there is a group of them doing it! People are just pathetic.

That would only make me want to work there more, do my job well and live well so it will pisss them off lol Living well really IS the best revenge! Kill them with kindness and act like you are the happiest person on earth-- it'll drive them even more nuts- you watch! lol jealousy! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Follow your heart-- but that is what I would do Chat Icon

Its true, get an office of more than 2 people and unfortunately there will always be petty gossiping...work gets monotinous so people do that more for a pass-the-time tactic. so immature!

Me personally I can't be phoney...I would've probably have called them on it right there and then & said something like "umm I can HEAR you!!!!"
but now that its over and you didnt say anything, Id probably walk in and not even acknowledge them, or if you have to say hello-but just do your work, be professional, get it done and leave.

I agree. Happen everywhere. May as well deal with it at a job you love that's close to home.

First off...I am sorry hun..people can be so childish sometimes.

Secondly, I do agree though, that it happens EVERYWHERE! Not just in the work place either..its unfortunately just a way of life.

Last but certainly not least..be stronger and a better person than these people. Dont leave just because of them and their "whispers"...either confront them and ask what the problem is or just go about your business like nothing. Dont give something up that you like and is easy for you!

Good luck! Chat Icon
