I am Not Due Until October But Just Visited My First DayCare Center---Kiddie Kampus in Medford
I was pretty impressed. They are starting an infant/toddler program in September. They charge $260 a week for full time with $20 extra for early drop-off. If that the going rate? You can't as an infant or toddler do part-time which stinks because my Mom is going to watch my baby on Friday's. Also they are now going by Pat-Medford's Teacher's schedule but as of Sept are opened year round. They said you get two weeks a year where you can have your child out (lets say your vaca--Im a teacher) and pay just 50% for those two weeks..is that a normal practice? Also (great for me as a city teacher) you don't have to pay for the summer and they will hold your spot if you keep your security deposit there.
This leads to my next big question. I always heard centers want $100 or so non-refundable to hold a place. They REQUIRE two weeks tuition non-refundable that would apply to the last two weeks your child goes to the center. Is this CRAZY OR NORMAL? I guess I better be sure before I give in $520.
Thank and any advice tips.
Also...anyone have a list of good questions to ask the director/owner when searching for a daycare?

Wow they let you take you DC out for the summer and keep the spot? That is the first daycare I've ever heard that does that. I am a teacher too and my daycare doesn't let you do that which is why Chelsea isn't starting there until september.

Tutor time has the same security deposit procedure. I didn't like it to be honest. What if it turns out you find an alternative arrangement? Or there is a problem at the center and you withdraw your child immediately. Then you lose that money. At my center they don't require a deposit, only a registration fee, I think it was $125. At our center, I think you get 1 week vacation in the Summer, it could be two, I forget. If you like the place though, then go for it!

Is Priscilla still the director in Medford??? I taught at Kiddie Kampus for a few years in college...I taught in the 3yr old program (I also went to Kiddie Kampus for pre-school which shows how long they are in business...so they know what they are doing). I have to say, without being bias, they are the best! Their programs are very academically based, the people they hire are not just off the street (they hire mostly through recommendations and most teachers have been there for years) and they are by the book! I live in Nassau now but have been going crazy trying to find a 2 yr. old Munchkin program like they started there while I was teaching and I cannot find anything like it around here.
They already had a daycare program at their Bayport office when I was teaching...someone I worked with at my first job out of college used them and loved it!!! The Bayport location and Medford location are owned by the same people so the daycare will be run the same way. I highly recommend them and to be honest, you will be getting your $$$$ worth.
