I am so sad and hurt!!
Yesterday was my birthday. DH took me out and we had a great time. We are supposed to be celebrating it today with my stepson. Well, DH brought my stepson home before and he totally ignored me, didn't say hello or happy birthday. I am sure he forgot, but its kinda obvious once your in the house with all the birthday cards right on top of the TV. Still nothing. DH and him went to get some McDonalds, came back and DH told me they stopped to get a cake for me for later. Still NOTHING. I am so sad that he has not said happy birthday to me or even HELLO. I am also upset with DH for not reminding him. I am the type of person that goes above and beyond for EVERYONES birthdays, trying to make them as special as possible. When I say everyone, I mean both my family and his family. I threw a party together in 10 minutes for his sister for her birthday. I didn't even get a phone call from her either. I am just really hurt by his whole family. But more importantly at my DH. The way I see it, if he doesn't care to make any effort to remind them of upcoming things, then why should they care. I really just feel so unappreciated and really stupid for always going out of my way for everyone and being treated like dirt when its my turn. I don't expect stuff in return for the things I do, but a phone call would be nice. I don't know, maybe I am super sensitive, but I am really hurt. DH just left to take my stepson to the movies and I broke down crying as soon as they left. I don't even want the friggin pity cake tonight with my stepson. Sorry to go on like a baby, I am just really hurt.

i know how you feel...the same thing happens to me on my birthday - i enjoy doing all three thousands yards for everyone elses birthday and sometimes i let it get to me if mine is not acknowledged either....maybe he is just acting cool to surprise you later??

It doesnt sound like your step-son forgot or doesnt know. Is he an adolescent? If so, it may just be part of his age, immaturity and rebellion. Try not to let it get to you.

I agree but i think they are like that at all ages as kids. Especially boys.

Happy Birthday!
I used to do that too - go out of my way for everyone, and not get too much back. Needless to say, I 've cut a lot of that out, and I just get back tenfold from the people who care. But it still stinks.
I would say something to DH about it - after all, he's the dad. I hope it was all just a simple misunderstanding. And I hope the cake is good anyway. (I love cake.)

As a high school teacher I can tell you that most boys wouldn't even notice if you were on fire!! They can be very moody as adolescents, it comes with the territory. Don't let it bother you.
