I can make this, right?
PBK is selling it for $40. I think I can definitely make it for much much less, right??
What do I need? Two finials or knobs, some sort of cable/wire and clips?? Can I get all of that at Michaels? Or Lowes?

you could go with simple cabinet knobs that you could find at a hardware store and some sort of line (twine, fishing wire, etc). You could also get a retractable laundry line (you hang it and the cord retracts into one side when not in use!

i've done this before!
the idea of a retractable clothes line is great because it will keep the line taught.
then all you need are cute clips. i used clothes line clips. i had my son paint them however he wanted. or if you want a more uniform look, you can paint them all the same color or use office metal clips.
this is soooo do-able for much less that $40
please post pics when you're done
