I CANNOT stop itching!

So far all of the tests have come back negative...which is good, except there is nothing they can do for me! My doc said to take Benadryl but I really don't love taking medicine while pregnant (and the few times I did it didn't help).

So here it is again - 3 am, wide awake, and itching the he!! out of my entire body. For about a month it was only my hands and feet now its everywhere and I don't know what to do or what is causing it.

Is anyone else itching like this? Now I'm more anxious than ever to give birth so this itching will stop!!!

As you know, I went through the same thing, but unfortunately I don't have much advice to give. I was up all night itching, NOTHING soothed it, and my doctor was stubborn and didn't know much about Cholestasis or what to do. What kind of tests did your doctor do? Did he/she test your biliruben levels? Make sure that the following is being tested: Tests for cholestasis and make sure that you get tested weekly. Your levels can jump up very quickly. I know mine did. I really hope you get some answers/relief soon, because I know exactly how you're feeling right now. I'm really busy with the new baby, but please feel free to FM me any time

Gold Bond's makes an anti-itch powder that works wonder. They also make a spray anti-itch. My husband & sisteri-in-law always gets the non-stop itching every year this time of year. You should try it.

This happened to me with my first pregnancy. I had to be induced. Did they check your liver enzyme levels? I had something called HELLP.
You did have blood tests since this started happening?

I had this REALLY bad on my stomach for a while. At first, it was my lower stomach, then it spread up high and around my sides. I called the doc and she said to use Cortizone cream. I think that did the trick! I used it for a week or so and haven't had it come back. Give it a try and see if you can get any relief.

(My DH had to physically hold me back from scratching one day and I wound up in tears, so I know how you are feeling)

Do you have red spots or bumps? It may be PUPPS. It's an allergic reaction to the placenta and will only go away once the placenta is delivered. None of the creams & soaps help my friend who had it.

Thank you everyone for your responses. Thank goodness I am not working - I didn't fall asleep until after 5 am.

I will ask about PUPPS - a friend of mine mentioned that to me too.

Kristin they did test me for cholestasis, and I will mention being tested again for it - I didn't realize you were tested weekly. I am glad you are finally feeling better!!!

This totally S*CKS!!! I had such an easy pregnancy so far and I was totally enjoying it but now I'm honestly not. I have bruises and scratches all over from itching. I've tried cortizone, oatmeal baths, benadryl, ice packs, you name it...I'll ask again when I go to the doctor on Friday - otherwise I'll hang in there for another 4 or 5 weeks. Thanks everyone!

I hope you get better!

I was itchy, but just on my belly for about a week. After that, I got a whole load of stretch marks. Just when I thought i couldn't get any more. So I think that's what the itching was related to. Definately did not get it in my whole body.
