2 years ago I quit a job at a local university after 4 days. I was mislead in terms of what the job would be, terms, etc and I was bored and miserable already. Looking ahead, I did not see it becoming any better and for me, I knew it would be short-term until I got a full-time guidance position anyway - so I quit - best thing I ever did!

My mother works in HR; she tells me this happens at least 1x a month in her company (hourly wage workers, not professionals). She always laughs it off and says she doesn't blame them.
Seriously, if you're really unhappy, and you know it's not the right fit, leave. It won't even be a blip on your resume. I remember feeling this way at the last job I had, and ended up staying 9 years though. You may just need a little more time. Is it the work itself, or the environment?

I don't think its necessarily a question of getting used to it, I know that it takes time to adjust to any new job/meet everyone/figure everything they do out.....its more of I don't feel comfortable the way things are run and will not ever be no matter how long i will be there

I haven't but if it's a situation that isn't going to change & it's to the level where you're that uncomfortable, it sounds like a no brainer.
I would probably keep the job & look for something else.

It sounds like you know the difference b/t adjusting to a new place, and simply not being comfortable with the daily operations of the job.......so quitting might be the right thing for you.....you have enough on your plate w/relocating and being homesick.......you should try and find something positive that you enjoy to balance out all the other negatives your feeling right now.... I think its fine. If you are unhappy and don't see it changing, then why waste your time there when you could be finding somethign so much better? You sound like a professional, mature woman - you're not being a quitter - you are having the foresight to know that something isn't the right fit for you.

I've heard of people not showing up for their second day but wow....that's incredible.
You need to do what's best for you. If you don't like where you are then you should quit, no matter how short of a time you've been there. We spend too much time working to be unhappy.
