I can't believe what I saw yesterday
My Stop n Shop is in a shopping complex. I stopped to pick up some dry cleaning at the far end of the complex and I see this couple with a little boy (pretty sure he was 3) and something didn't seem right to me, but I couldn't figure out what. I mean, nothing bad was happening, but the woman had a concerned look on her face.
Anyway I get DD out of the car, go into the dry cleaner (girl was slow as molasses) get DD back in the car drive over to Stop n Shop, park, get DD out and the police pull up and 3 men run out into the parking lot.
I take my time getting out the car (didn't know why the police were there and didn't want to walk into something bad) - next thing I know he walks all the way to where I saw that boy and starts coming back with the 3 of them. Apparently the little boy left the store, and the couple found him wandering the parking lot and called the police.
Can I tell you how far that boy was from the store and this shopping center was pretty busy (I guess with the snow threat everyone was shopping) and how LONG that boy was out there. No mom in sight!!!
The police walked the boy into the store. I heard him ask him his name and how old he was. They asked what his mommy looked like and where he saw her last. He didn't seem upset or scared, but cooperative. They finally found the mom checking out. Like nothing was wrong. I saw that boy out there for at 15 minutes. The mom is on line checking out?!?!?!? She doesn't even realize he's not there???
When the police approached her she started SCREAMING at him. I saw the police take her outside and talk to her for a long time. I'd LOVE to know what he said to her. MORON!!!!!!

Honestly, what the heck is wrong with people? You sound like you are describing the Stop N Shop near me (not sure where you're located though). If its the same one then I've seen some strange things happening in that store. I am always on the look out for weird people and strange things happening. Poor little boy!!!

CRAZY! It sounds like something that happened to my DH a few years ago. He was driving down a busy street(kind of like Northern Blvd) when out of the corner of his eye he sees a toddler in a diaper walk into the oncoming traffic. He slammed on his brakes, grabbed the boy and pulled around the corner. It took him and three others knocking on doors for 30 MINUTES to finally locate his parents. They didn't even seem concerned according to DH. He was upset he just cried to me when he got home.

Wow! I can't believe some people sometimes.
Something similar happened to us at Disney one time. We found a boy alone crying, couldn't have been more than 6. He couldn't find his mom. It was crowded as heck so we decided to wait with until we could find his mom. She comes back 10 minutes later and starts yelling at the kid for wandering off. Says not a word to us and takes off. I couldn't believe it.

I'm in Putnam, so probably not the same SNS
I will say it's a very safe neighborhood, but it's a busy parking lot and there are crazy people everywhere. I even wonder how he walked all the way to the far end of the parking lot with nobody stopping him. Just amazes me how the mother didn't even realize he was gone until a police officer brought him back.
